TOTA Beach Volleyballers ?

heyo anyone here a beachhead? i know there's a handful of people here who play like che and muff2k, but i'm wondering what the interest out there is like .. ?

i play regularly with the NSP league Intermediate level on Mondays and Wednesday @ Bayside as well as some pick-up @ Ashbridges on the weekend.

does anyone else head down there regularly or for some pick-up now and then .. ?


there's actually a tourney going on this weekend @ Ashbridges with some live DJs and a beach party.

gotta soak up the summer while it still lasts

I play NSP Mondays at Ashbridges, I think we're signing up a team for the fall league too somewhere.

Playing in the NSP tourney this weekend (comp 4s). I usually play 2s. If you guys are ever organizing TOTA beach tourney/games I am in. I am on the beach 5 times a week.

i'd be totally down for some pick-up if anyone else is interested..

btw, do you know of any other good beach courts available this weekend in light of the NSP tourney happening ? i'm thinkin about scoping out Manitou Beach on the TO Island as well as possibly Sunnyside Beach ..

Emz, i was suppose to play in the Pro side of the NSP tourney this weekend but had to pull out last minute. I'm having an unexpected surgery on my knee on Tuesday. I'll be there this weekend though. Some pretty good teams there, including a bronze medalist from Atlanta.

Lemme know when you will go

hey sorry to hear about your injury! i was hoping to play there this weekend too but i couldn't manage to get a team together in time. anyway, let me know when you're heading down as I might be around scoping for some free courts to play on..

a lot of leagues in the city offer recreational level play for people who have next to zero playing experience or who are just looking to learn and have some fun. there are also impromptu pickup games that happen all over the beach where random ppl juss come together to hit the ball around... you should come check it out!

Btw, I got a chance to check out FIVB Montreal Open few weeks ago. Got mini-Mikasa signed by Ricardo&Emanuel as well as the top Canadian players.

Were u playing provincials this year? I play AA/A1 ball on OVA tour....not much of a player compared to our top teams (gatto&hubbard etc...

dEsidEL, do you have your own net setup???? if yes I am quite sure that there will be spots availabe at Sunnyside if you wanna set up there

hey i've got a friend who's bringing a net and line markers if i manage to find a court this weekend. i'm gonna try the island first and then Sunnyside if things don't turn up but i figure Sunnyside would be easier not having to lug everything around on the island.

i think che transferred off AS Aris last season and is playing in Cyprus this fall.

Matt, I didn't realize you played in provincial leagues here during ur off season .. ?

im not very good, but id be down for a TA pick-up game down at the beaches one day.

and i'm serious I do actually suck. I can't hit the ball straight it just goes in the other direction. all I can do is spike.

I play with Al Arseneau. Played the first 4 tourneys of the season. One 2nd and three 1st. Then found out i have some scar tissue chips in my knee that need to be taken out before i head out to Cyprus.

Emz, yah i play for fun. The money isn't exactly great but its a way for me to stay in shape for the indoor season.

well i'm heading down to Ashbridges this weekend and a few other places to scope out some courts to play on ..

i guess we could organize some kinda TOTA beach vball pickup games if there's enough interest for it. there's only a couple weeks of warm weather left before it gets too cold to play outside so we should hurry.

I love VolleyBall! Such a great sport, I don't play too well on sand because i feel as if I cant move as fast or as well. But I love court.

I remember my first indoor game after playing the entire summer on the beach...took a nice dive on my knees out of habit
