Choon --> experience or memory association

I'm sure we all had this - you hear a certain song and remember something associated with it (I also have associations with scents too, but music is most pronounced).

Do you have any choons that you listen to and it brings back a memory of something?

Here are few of mine:

Solar Stone - 7th city: Driving on a beautiful scenic route in Virginia - nothing but sea of green and rolling blue hills and mountains around me. The sky was like a picture you see in magazines, a sea of blue clouds like peaks of waves with sun diving in and out of them. I can just pop the track in, close my eyes and see it again, like I'm back there.

Liquid Child - Diving Faces: I was in San Francisco on a business trip and had evening all to myself. I took my rental car, poped my trance compilation CD in and went on a drive around. I eventually ended up on some mountain top in either Oakland or Berkley. I saw the sun set behind the San Fran skyline, turning it into a city made of gold. As the night came around, I was stretched out on a hood of the car, Diving Child was playing on repeat as the city streets turned into grid of light. I looked up and saw what looked like all the stars in the sky. It was like looking straight into space to the point of being so overwhelming I realized I was in a state of awe and almost to the point where it felt like I was tripping. Probably the most memorable experience ever - look down and see a perfect grid of lights and look up to see an unforgettable skyscape.

BBE - 7 days and 1 week: - driving through the night skyline of Manhattan. My windows open, music blasting, car in red line. Just feeling the rush of wind and music in my ears. I did a complete circle around manhattan and ended up in brooklyn hights, where I sat watching the Manhattan skyline and (still existing) World Trade Center twins. Now every time I hear that song it makes me sad. I recall the tradgedy of Sept. 11 and also realize that this image is something that I will never see again, only remember it as it was then.

(sorry if it's a bit sappy)

plenty... but by far the most vivid is darren tate's remake of blue amazon's 'no other love'; it was the tune playing pretty much as i first set foot in the global gathering main arena back in 2003, which was my first proper clubbing experience. i'm almost literally taken back there every time i play it; can picture my surroundings right down to the last detail.. still makes all the hairs stand on end

that happens when i'm going through a stressful time in my life. this isn't EDM, but whenever i hear audiolave's i am the highway i remember walking on a dark rainy night along a busy road & singing it at the top of my lungs.

that song got me through my divorce. i have multiple memories of things i did hearing that song.

songs like that become my "official" song of whatever i am going through at the moment.

some couples have "their" song. i have "my" song

Armin Van Buuren feat Justine Suissa - Burned With Desire (ronski speed remix):

Reminds me of being at a beach in summer back in late 2004. (Summer's late 2004 here in Sydney)

Holden & Thompson - Nothing (93 Returning Mix):

Reminds me of being inside an empty cold room made of blue steel.

:P

Paul van Dyk vs Tilt - Rendezvous (Quadrophonic Mix)

Kinda weird, just reminds me when me and 2 mates of mine were in the seaside town called Weymouth on a cold November night in 99, we missed the last train home, and the next train was like 5.40am, so we were stuck there.
We had no where to stay or go, so we were walking around trying to keep warm, and we tried to sleep on the seats on the platform. then my walkman died on me, and that was the last tune that was playing in my ear.

Everytime i play it, it just transports me back to that time we missed that train, and how freezing it was, brrrr.

Hammer & Bennett - Language (Santiago Nino Dub Tech)

Whenever i hear this tune, it reminds me of this one time my cousin was home alone on a weekday and decided to invite me over and we got super drunk.

Heh

Ferry Corsten- Sublime

I can imagine seeing a cold winter night in a city, but nobody's on the streets. It's snowing perhaps. Maybe around Christmas time. The focus is on one house, you see someone moving around inside quickly through time lapse photography. There's a fireplace with a warm fire in it. Perhaps this person goes out and takes a walk on the lighted streets with the streetlights reflecting off the falling snow. They look at the tall buildings, everything seems hollow...distant, but very anxious. Almost as if something was supposed to happen but didn't...

Lesseeee-

Deep Dish - Flashdance

Ya. I know this is cheese now, I can barely still listen to it. However, there was one amazing moment with this tune. It was one of my last days when I was living in Peru, we went to this slammin local house club on a saturday night, which was absolutely packed in a good way. It was June 2004 ish, right before the promo vinyl of flashdance was released. My favorite peruvian dj, Andy Dyer, was on the decks- it was already a great night with my whole crew in the club going nuts, and i hear those guitars come in and I swear, it was beautiful. We rocked so hard to that tune and right after I went and asked the dj, a buddy of mine, what the song was, he told me right there, it stuck in my head and a week later I bought that promo vinyl at a chop here in Calgary. That moment was fucking awesome.

More to come.
