essential mixes - coming up marco v, pvd etc

they should invite 16 bit lolita's or Danny Howells.

bigger need for them to re-book pendulum, bring New Zealands best act (antix) and getting john '00' fleming back. Whenever we get 'trance' they just bring the usual suspects, if it's not pvd, tiesto, jules or oakey, we don't hear it as a rule.

Pendulum are just as much of a usual suspect dnbwise as PvD or Tiesto trancewise. What really is overdue is an EM for Fabio and Grooverider, who have been doing their show on R1 for several years now without getting a single EM as of yet.

Anyways, looking forward to Kerri Chandler and some proper soulful house music.

Has there been an EM from Hernan Cattaneo? I can't remember.

I just remembered, I've still got the original "The Essential Mix" cassettes from 1997 mixed by Oakie, Tongers, and John Carter. I'm such a nostalgic whore.

Let's hope these sets will be something good too.

Pendulum may be a 'usual suspect' but we see so little d&b that it's worth having something of their quality. Fabio & Grooverider whilst both technically proficient have never done anything special for me, to the point where if i was picking d&b other than pendulum, i'd go the way of hype, dilinja, nicky blackmarket or bunjy, the latter 2 of which are really underrated.

I could easily provide a similar argument by saying that what Hype is playing these days often is just plain awful, and that other people from True Playaz such as Zinc deserve it more than him musically, but that's not the point. The point is that there are other artists who deserve a slot more than Pendulum based on their previous efforts and previous exposure (or lack thereof).

Seeing as Pendulum already had an EM in addition to being usual suspects (which you yourself discredit artists for in terms of getting an EM), it'd be better with a veteran/new talent that hasn't been featured yet, for which both Fabio and Hype qualify.

I think the main reason for lack of dnb on R1 is due to its sister station 1Xtra, which has nothing but the jamaican/african-inspired styles on rotation (dnb, dancehall, garage, hiphop etc.)

AGAIN Paul van Dyk??

I would rather want to hear someone from Euphonic or other than Paul van Dyk once more (besides that there are already like 5-10 Essential Mixes from him he already had one this year ). It's not gonna be any good aswell

Posted by Simcut on Aug-21-2006 07:50:

man that tracklist for the Pendulum mix is sweeeet
