(Progressive trance) Nomen Nescio - Iguacu Falls (Original Mix)

Hey everyone,

It has been a while since I posted anything on here. I have been busy with other stuff (such as the girly who needed attention )

Here is a track I did a while ago which I now finally finished. It is called Iguacu Falls and it is more of an Ibiza kind of trancer. Looking forward to your reactions.

You can hear the first 7 minutes of the track at:

Cheers!

Nomen Nescio

this has such a classic 1999 feel. big sounding percs reverb and epic synths. and the arrangement has the same qualities i loved back in the day.

break - nice emotion - a bit generic but the meloies are nice. main lead is a little distant imo. maybe something fresher and more powerful.... the existing fits well but i think another sound would give more potential.

overall the production is good as i expected. but it is a bit classic for my tastes these days

keep it up mate

hey Menno,

long time man!

This track is one of your better productions in my opinion, the whole track has a classic 1999 feel to it as Rich already mentioned it earlier. Personally, i dig the heavy percussion, sounds quite cool in the track. I wouldn't say the melodies are awesome or anything, it's rather a chilled ibiza kinda trancer with some laidback melodies in it.

Honestly, i enjoyed listening to your track and i wish you good luck with it!

cheers,
Peter

hey menno!

sounds really cool!
awesome percussion...very full and rich sounding...bass fits well into the percs...
the synths you chose are very good, 2!
breaks is produced lovely, with some nice details...
mellow is awesome! very late-summerish...fits perfect to this weather atm...

really enjoyed listening to your track...

Hi man long time no see =) yea its busy times these days, hope your summer has been good =) now to the track , damn that base is spot on.
and the sweeping melody is great, I dont want to call this 99 it sounds a lot like silent waves (one of my favourite tunes btw ). and the break is really good gives me shivers, and the perc work is great , this is my kind of trance , the stuff I listen to in my ipod =) and it only gets better honestly I dont know how to improve this track, it have got all the elements, the only thing I would do whit this would be a vocal version whit the same dub! really this is your best track ive heard yet =)keep it up and tell me when its final, ill be waiting !isos track!

Love mavve!

Thanks Rich, Mycron, Klangzentrum and Mavve. Very nice to read you all like the track

Rich I heard your previous tracks and indeed I can imagine that this type of trance is not your cup of tea at the moment. You have taken quite another direction

Mavve, I would love to have some vocals in this one. Too bad I do not have a singing booth here and no great singer in my neigbourhood

Thanks again people!

Cheers!

good to see you back menno

nice thumping track from the start. your mastering on your tracks is immense. the melody sounds similar to another track you were working on, is this the same one?

really good percs in this. need to add these type of percs to my tracks. i dont think id call it old trance. it has the dreamy epic feel to trance in 2003/04 buti like it. you create atmospheres so well.

nice build up after the breakdown. very proggy. is it getting signed? would love a 320kbps copy to try in a set.

Hey man, really beautiful track here. Everything sounds great and I love the slow vibe to the track. Really awesome work on the main melody synth, it's soft and engaging and the delay is spot on.
I noticed the bassline tends to lose a bit of power when it hits the bottom couple of notes, perhaps the whole track could work better transposed up a key or two? Bet that would throw a fly in the ointment
Great track mate, keep it up

Posted by Subtle on Aug-22-2006 07:56:

listening:

track starts very nice with a heavy kick, bassline, some delayed hats which works nice. and the track constantly builds.

break works nice with some strings, and some melodies and synths added.. the melody isnt very memorial but has a nice atmosphere, at 5:00 something wierd happens with the bass.

overall very nice production, but sounds a bit unclear and i would remove what you did with the bass, and i dont feel that much tension in the chord progression.

and i think maybe the wet lead sound is too much in the track as the other lead is pretty cool.

Posted by Nomen Nescio on Aug-22-2006 12:59:

Thanks guys for your replies.

Dj Kane yes this was the track I was working on a while ago. I think I posted a sample on mypace of it. This track does not remind me of 99 either so I am glad you also think it sounds more like the newer trance

Pho Mo : the bass does not really lose power in the lower ranges, it gains power in the higher range at the end of the bassriff during the leadsection I kinda like it that way in this track, it really boosts the end of the leadnotation. However it was a pain in my ass. I had to cut a bit of its power and gain some of the volume on the lower bassnotes. Granted it could still be done better

Subtle thanks for your comments. We are opposites when it comes to loving wet and dry sounds I don't know what you mean with the track sounding unclear because my personal opinion is that it is pretty clear and could perhaps even be mastered with less clarity.
Other than that thanks for your input mate

Cheers!

Another great tune from nomen nescio.

Track sounds nice.. the real nomen nescio sound in it.

Btw congrats with armin playing the rnm tune in his asot 262 show!!

When does the other track Waves of Arashi be released?

Peace!

Mr

Arrow

Track sounds really good, like the start with the buildup and the percussion you used!

Think that the BD+Bass-section could be a little bit stronger/louder... maybe its the player @ soundclick which lowers the lower frequencies?!

All sounds are really balanced - awesome to listen!

Well, melodies dont blow my mind but they provide for the nice chilled atmosphere...

Good luck with this!

Cheers,
S-Tune

This is simply an awesome track.

Right up my street, i can understand where the 1999 comments come from however i think this would work today aswell.

The track for me could maybe use an edit without the blackhole style lead, maybe tone things on the riff down and keep it more proggy like the first few minutes of the track were.

Overall loved it, and would love a playable version for sure.

First of all, glad you like the track and thanks mate, Rick (RickyM) and I are very happy with being played on ASOT by Armin. And of course Peter (Marninx) has done a marvelous job on the remix.

Waves of Arashi is set for a release early 2007 probably depending on remixes and/or other tracks which will be added to the release.

S-tune and Adrian, thanks for the comments. Glad everyone is enjoying the track

Hi Menno!

Yeah loving the bass sound here and the build up of the percussion. Some very nice sounds you have with the lead synths too and the choir-type pads.

Maybe the kick could do with a bit more punch? Just a thought. EQ should do the trick. (IMO )

The sequencing is really nice. Good use of reverb and stereo in the breakdown.

I would say this is a very classy progtrance track. You are getting a bit good at this arent you mate

All the best and thanks for your kind words about my leg hehe. Im getting there!

Cheers
Martin

Thanks guys. Glad you more or less both agree it sounds different than my usual stuff. That is what I set out to do with this track.

The kick more punch, yeah perhaps it could. I did EQ the kick already. I like it the way it is now, not a big thumping kick but a more gentle one. It goes well with the big percs. Once you change the kick the percs will also sound differently with it.

Cheers anyways! And keep them coming folks

Percussions are outstanding, I love too that early Trance feeling alot mate, I enjoyed alot listening to this track, is pretty much my style of Trance, keeep it up man .
Kopi =o.

Posted by Nomen Nescio on Aug-25-2006 16:36:

Thans Kopi, good to read you like it. Personally I do not know what the early trance feel of this track is since it is not really epic or uplifting

Cheers!

Hey Nomen, another addition to your discograpy - let's check it out ...

Intro:

I understand what they mean with the 1999 feel, it's the wet beat/bass/ohh combo... (*)
Signature bassline is gone

To me the snare roll at 1:50 seems unecessary

The Break:
Sudden stop of the percussion at 2:56 - could be more gentle
nice atmosphere at the start of the break , nice soft strings

The lead reminds me of a C64 game, the "last ninja" (although much more clean and phat of course), and doesn't really do it for me, would have expected a more stellar sound here ... but hey .. it's progressive ... i know ...

The bassline's note change isn't very transparent (4:55), the bass sound clearly has more power in its higher notes, and loses it completely in the lowest part.

The whole track seems kind of wet, but it doesn't really bother me though - could be part of the reason it reminds everybody of the 99's (*). The mastering seems a little heavy, everything seems kind of pumped (could be the streaming quality of course)

All in all, pretty cool track,

Regards,

J.

Read This!

I like the wide precs layer.
The buildup isn't that interesting.
The break comes.
The lead sounds nice.
It's not bad.

7/10,
Omer

Posted by Nomen Nescio on Aug-27-2006 15:41:

Thanks Groundzero for your long review The signature bass can not be overused hey, but I might use it again in another track

The Drow, I actually agree up to a point that the build up is not that intresting. It is hard making a super build up in a more chilled track i.m.o. In a big epic track one can just use bits and pieces of the big theme already but here that was hard to do since the melody is not that important in this track.

Anyways cheers you both!

I think that you should use another melody in the buildup anyway.
And sometimes even change melodies inside the buildup.
It's really boring to hear the main theme all over and over.

Omer

Very epic opening. I'm with Rich on the '99 feel already.

I really like your lead in the intro, and its subtlety.

The tribal drums could be louder to give the break more rhythm.

Not bad. Very rhythmic feel.

Review on the way tommorrow mate, I would do it now but my Internet won't allow me to download much at the minute...
