ID Contest 39 (yes, i'm impatient)

so yeah. it's less than 24h since the last one finished, but i've had literally nothing else to do all day so have come up with 80 new samples for your IDing pleasure and will burn a hole on my mouse-button if i don't post post them up now:

> DOWNLOAD <

-----------

as previously mentioned i've been fairly out of the loop with most of the previous contests & frankly didn't expect to win on my 2nd ever entry, so to keep things simple it'll follow similar lines to tribu's without trying anything radically different. as for difficulty, i find it hard to judge but there aren't many in here i would call particularly obscure.. that wasn't my aim. it isn't nearly as fantastically varied as tribu's contest either, but then my collection is somewhat limited in comparison...

so... 80 tracks, 3 points each, for correct artist, title & remix (if applicable). mix name does not have to be specified if it's an 'original mix', and in this case 3 points will be awarded for a fully correct artist & title. hints/nudges will also be available at my discretion

for those new to things, simply fill out the provided text file & paste it to me via PM. deadline will be midnight between the 15th & 16th of september, GMT. i'm clueless to other timezones i'm afraid so non uk-ers may have to work that one out

happy IDing!

----

***update 29/08 - some hints:

02 - australian duo discover twin coasts
08 - was used in a levi's advert during the mid 90s
09 - listen carefully & you might be able to pick out the multi-platinum selling voice that's been remixed here
10 - this appeared on a free mixmag cd once, mixed by a man who obviously has a good perception of what makes a decent set
13 - "i want to be in your arms.."
15 - collaboration between two of belgium's most renowned trance exports
17 - http://isoterra.co.uk/images/F10_08.jpg
23 - digweed once used this as a cd opener. in addition, one of the previous hints also applies to this tune
29 - "you're not alone.."
30 - this nu generation trance artist likes to watch the sunrise

***update 05/09 - deadline extended, more hints:

24 - this tune is absolutely massive. MASSIVE. MAH-SIVVE!
32 - finnish j00f producers hook up with an old friend & rediscover some lost tapes
33 - a clue lies east of indonesia, but not the answer
34 - whatever it is, that girl put a spell on me (and it wasn't the adrenaline)
37 - tell me your dream, tell me ---- ----
41 - this producer is more well known for his 99-style uplifting trance
42 - "i hope this state of mind will last forever.."
49 - f off? no, u f off!
53 - you can track this down using google, if you bear in mind the lyric used isn't the song title
63 - this is a remix by a *very* renowned trance/dance/chillout producer from the uk

***update 11/09 - hints for all unidentified clips thus far!

id09 - this singer's brother lost faith a long time ago
id29 - a certain anjuna-flavoured remix of this is probably more well known
id30 - this once featured on a cd of selected new talent, put out by an online trance community
id39 - nicholas bennison evidently took a liking to this track last year
id41 - this is one of my favourite tunes ever, shame on you all for not knowing it! id46 should provide a hint
id44 - this 1996 release hails from the time when eponymous track titles were cool
id49 - this act could be considered an abbreviation of the hartnoll brothers
id53 - i used to be in love with this
id54 - the vocalist here has sung on one of pendulum's tracks
id60 - a remix of one of their other tracks featured on sasha's infamous GU13
id67 - the song title here consists of two words. listen again..
id71 - released on something quite extravagant, complex, or bizarre, especially in ornamentation
id72 - this producer was born in the ocean & knows how to control the floor!
id73 - produced by sascha mller
id74 - this isn't a remix of chicane track. however one could say it was a track that sounds like another track (not by same producer)
id75 - you don't even need to know this one to figure out the title
id78 - if anyone gets this i'll laugh
id80 - if no-one gets this i'll cry

How can you not know that one? At least the track title.

This one seems easy, almost like mine!

i was too busy to put a decent entry in. Unless I have a fair few, I don't enter, cant look bad

Posted by isoterra on Aug-22-2006 11:49:

*makes a note to put "Ian: 0" at the bottom of the list if he doesn't enter*

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Aug-22-2006 12:30:

Wow that was fast. Hopefully this one's a tad easier. Tribu nearly gave me an aneurism on a few of the IDs on that last one.

Heh. When it started I thought "These strings sound like the beginning of..." and then it kicked in and I cheered.

I'll submit my entry later. I know the artist and the album of 21, but I don't recall any of the track names so I'll have to go through them all. If I get a decent score on the first run I might come back and try Googling some lyrics.

So teams will be allowed for this contest?

i'm going to say no, for now. whilst there's no harm in people who normally finish towards the bottom pairing up to get slightly higher in the chart.. i wouldn't want to see 2 adept contestants join forces & wipe the floor with everyone.. and the line is hard to place. there's no easy way of judging if someone is bad enough to warrant teaming up.

i would say the best time to allow them would be with a week or so left of the contest, if things are getting stagnant without much activity & i have to resort to mass hint-posting.. but they would have to be moderated based on the scores of individuals. i'm not saying i'll definitely allow them then but it's something to consider..

Posted by THE_Chris on Aug-22-2006 20:28:

Well that settles our little argument for now

Posted by Unique2701 on Aug-22-2006 21:10:

YES!!

i mean, oh too bad

Posted by Subey on Aug-22-2006 23:22:

#4 is both cruel and unusual. I am currently driving myself mad trying to place it

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Aug-22-2006 23:35:

I'm usually shit. Anyone else who's shit want to team up?
