found chapelle ticket on the ground....

so i was getting a hot dog at yonge and dundas tonight and look on the groud and see a ticketmaster ticket and it was for Dave Chapelle tonight at 10:30.... but after carefully thinking about it i just put it back on the ground

I couldnt have gone and watched it cuz i would be sitting beside some dude who lost his dates ticket (which i found on the ground)... so he would obviously be fucking pissed at me

and i didnt feel like going in front of massey hall and trying to scalp it, even though this probably would have been a very good idea for me financially

so yeah.... i felt the ticket was only of use to the owner so i put it on the ground in case he came to look for it.....

so i feel kinda like a fucking idiot for just throwing away a chapelle ticket but also not at the same time.....

opinions please.....

it's ok man.
It's a weird situation, I wouldn't have known what to do myself.

Posted by evil_cookie on Aug-22-2006 06:25:

so you found like $200 on the ground and left it there? if it makes you feel any better, chances are some next guy found the ticket and made money off it

I would've sold it just because I think chappele is WAY overrated.

but really like Misanthrope mentioned it's really a weird situation. If it was found inside a store or building that would've been a different story; but you coulden't really do much - so you did fine.

Posted by MarkT on Aug-22-2006 06:27:

if you really wanted to go, you could just ask the person you sat beside if they lost a ticket...if they did, you could pay them the ticket's face value? I wouldn't have scalped it either though.

at least for online and credit card purchases, does anyone know if ticketmaster could trace the purchaser if you turned in a lost ticket?

Posted by teufel-man on Aug-22-2006 06:46:

yeah the fact that i was basically just leaving $200 on the ground is whats messing with my head

but i woulda felt like a grease-bag scalping it....

Id imagine you could call ticketmaster and report finding a ticket, then if they reported loosing it they could probably get another.

But i dont really know what i wouldave done.

I'm sorry dude, but you fucked up LARGE! If you found it in a store, library or bar / clubs ... or whatever, fine give it to someone that works there. But, in the public open area like that? Yo it's yours! That's my law, even with cell phones!

One time I found a ticket to Freakin 2000, I almost fainted. Freakin' was the largest annaul rave in Toronto, it's Dose and Syrous teaming up for Halloween and the turnout for that yr was suppose to be 20,000+, but the city fucked them up and they lost their venue. Still, 19,000+ showed up.

Overrated? How? He's a comedic genious. Dane Cook comes close. But Chapelle is a master of the double entendre (butchered that spelling). So many meaningful statements lie beneath his jokes.

Dane Cook just states obvious things in a HILARIOUS way. But so can Chapelle. Ergo, Chapelle is better.

ps i used Cook as comparison because he is getting close to Chapelles calibur.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Aug-22-2006 13:49:

hmmm, that's definitely a weird situation. but i think i would have still gone with the ticket. if it is true and someone else that knew the person was sitting there then just act dumb and go find out if you can switch seats somewhere.

anyways, that's only if you really really wanted to see chapelle.

Posted by geroin on Aug-22-2006 14:19:

i dont know what i would have done
but you did a good thing anyway..you never know maybe they did show up and got their ticket

Don't forget about karma either. It takes a strong person to not take advantage of someone else's misfortune.

agreed.

for one, i'd feel awkward going by myself, and 2, i'd feel even wierder being by myself sitting beside the guy who potentially lost the seat you're in. and for 3, you woulda gotten struck by a car on your way home from the bad karma

+1.

The next guy who saw it picked it up, and laughed his ass off at Dave Chapelle.

And karma is bullshit btw guys. Just look at how full America's prisons are. All those people should have been struck by cars a long time ago.

Posted by teufel-man on Aug-22-2006 15:26:

for all the people who think i coulda actually used the ticket.... thats just pretty ridiculous....

like think.... a dude loses a ticket like 2 hours b4 the show... hes probably furious.... probably even thinks someone stole it.... so like u probably have his gf's or friends seat or something.... so u cant just show up and sit right beside him, he would definitely flip out, probably accuse you of stealing it and he would probably just go crazy

and like i woulda definitely gone if it was a jays ticket or something cuz then i coulda sat someone else. but this was a very popular show in a small venue.... so you really cant just sit in another section or something

the biggest lose to me woulda be the ammount i coulda scalped it for... but i thought that would just be too much of an asshole move

but what if he isn't Buddhist ? would it still apply ??

Posted by Tordan on Aug-22-2006 15:47:

you could have gone with the ticket and if they asked where you got it say that you just bought if off a scalper... duh!

Where did these scenarios with angry dudes losing their gf's tickets come from? If you were too pussy to tell the guy (or girl) sitting next to you, "finders keepers", just come out and say so.

Secondly, there are other possible scenarios besides gf+bf going to see Dave Chapelle. This is a comedy show, not a fucking formal dance - not only couples go.

Thirdly, if it was a couple, and the bf lost one of the two tickets, chances he'd sell the other one too because it would be a pretty low thing to do to go without your gf because you lost HER ticket.

Lastly, somebody lost the ticket. There is like 0.001% chance that he would have gotten it back. That's why you try and not lose shit in downtown TO, especially shit like tickets. If the person who lost it there got angry at you for finding and taking it, well, he's an idiot. Although that was already established because if he wasn't, he wouldn't have lost it in the first place.

Right and wrong always applies. Morals aren't (supposed to be) bound by religious beliefs.

I just think anytime you do something that you know isn't right, you run the risk of it coming around to bite you in the ass. Either directly or indirectly.

Posted by teufel-man on Aug-22-2006 15:58:

ok first of all... the gf thing is just an example... even worse a bunch of 5 angry drunk guys are going and the 5th guy lost his ticket and i am sitting right in the middle of them all

secondly i coulda gone and possibly got lucky that there wouldnt be angry people that lost their ticket sitting beside me, but the chances are fairly slim

and third, i know the guy probably wouldnt have came back for it but what was i suppose to do if i wasnt gonna use it? just keep it? at least by putting it back on the ground someone else can find and and do with it what they would like

this is not as black and white as you think, you fuckin idiot

ps. this is directed at cosmic fur

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Aug-22-2006 16:02:

So we go back to my first post where I said that the next guy who saw it, picked it up, went, and had a good time. In fact, what you SHOULD have done, was post-it your number on the back of the ticket so the guy who found it could have called you, and told you what a good time they had laughing their ass off to Dave Chapelle for free.

Posted by *~LiSa-LoO~* on Aug-22-2006 16:04:

I probably wouldn't have gone...b/c of the fact that the guy next to me would know I found his ticket and he'd probably be pissed.

HOWEVER, I probably would have scalped it. You don't even have to up the cost at all...you'd still be making money by asking for face value, or even lower!
