Dj Equipment Stores in AUS

Hi guys,

Rarely posting here but i do love to visit on and off, easpecially the Bedroom Dj Setups thread. So i know you guys dont know me to particulary well but im in Brisbane, QLD Australia.

Anyways.. I wanted to see if you guys could help me out and give me a list of any good Dj gear stores in the area. I'm use to turntables but as we all know most djs are turning to Ableton + CDJ's, So i guess i'll follow suit and try my hand at CDs.

All i need now is some places to browse around. I already know a few (StoreDJ, Bootcamp dj, Allans Music) But i wanted to see if you guys would please help me in my list so i can browse.

Thanks in advance

In Brisbane, the best deal will be had by playing off Lightsounds and Sound & Lighting QLD against each other - they're basically side by side on Lutwyche Rd just up from Lutwyche Central - and they hate each other

Otherwise there's not much... apart from Ignition Records (Wickham St Valley) or Central Station (Elizabeth St City) - Central is a rip off, I know Ignition is selling CDJs on eBay so have a look there for a better price possibly.

When I was living in Bris I bought my CDJ-800 off eBay from JD's Sound & Lighting - very easy.

Good luck

Not a bad idea at all, i will be doing that. ATM im thinking of grabbing

http://www.storedj.com.au/products/product.php?id=365

A good soundcard, And mixing through Traktor 3.0 until iv got a job and money starts growing out of tree's and i can afford CDj1000's.

But is that type of setup even possible?

I'd think about the Numark DXM-06 rather than the behringer. From all reports its a much more solid mixer than the Behringer and the effects are actually usable. There are so many Behringer hate threads in the DJ booth its not funny.

The Numark is not that much more expensive

yea thats where i was leaning towards aswell. Suppose to have USB support right?

I was encouraged not to get a 2 channel mixer as id be limiting myself. But that can be fixed later on down the track

with 2 channel mixers you can still have 4 inputs, you just need to flick a switch to allocate a TT or CD to that channel. A minor annoyance, but not a problem unless you want to have more than 2 inputs live at once.

I'm not sure about the 06 having USB, I think theres a USB versino of the 01 but that doesn't have effects.

Agreed, I've beaten the hell out of a DXM-series mixer and for a budget unit they are not bad at all... the effects on the 06/09s are surprisingly good.
