It's raining a lot less now. I'll be on Bloor at about 7ish.
i wana go, hopefully it doesnt rain
alright, well looks like since the rain has stopped im gonna head down for around 8. might see some of u there. gonna stay for a bit. for those going enjoy and dont drink too much vodka or beer :P
Ok, I just got back. Tasty Ukranian foods everywhere. I enjoyed the food, as some of it is similarly made like Czech food, the music, and I understood half of what people were saying around me.
Lots of tables set up selling Uki-fare like clothes, flags, stickers, t-shirts, anything Uki.
Traditions I found were somewhat similar. I had the pleasure for us Czechs to share the same tradition of beating girls and women with braided pussy-willows on lent. However, there is one Ukrainian object that perturbed me, kinda looked like a mace. Picture is below. Can any of my Slavic cousins explain me the story behind this Ukrainian traditional object? I believe it has to do with the Kozaks.
So in ending, I had a great time, I ate Perogies with sour cream, susage with hot spice/herbed 'salsa' with boiled cabbage, sourcraut, mashed potatoes and gravy. Best deal I found was at (I forget the name) that food deli/prepared foods market on the south side of bloor near the Chapters, which sold a European Combo above for $6. MMMMMmmmmmmm good!
So if you like speaking with round-faced Slavic ppl like me, who drink real bottles of REAL beer (500ml, not puny Canadian bottles), speak either Polish, Slovak, Macedonian, etc, you'll appreciate this event, and feel a little at home. No need to say, if you're Ukrainian, you're right at home here.
Oh, btw, I heard soome POLKA music, which was cool, cuz as per popular misconception, Polka music is NOT POLISH, it's Czech!
Enjoy,
AJ

Damn. All my years of living in Toronto and never went to these cultural festivals.
You are dumb, Yohan. Very dumb!
Just got back from another wikkid Friday night @ the Ukrainian fest.
Gotta say 500ml bottles of beer get you very intoxicated, but im all sobered up now.
Had some pergoies as well, but they arent the same as homemade
Screw the food...the women are beautiful!!!
