Cubase 4 screenshots leaked?

Hi there...

Here might be some interesting news for anyone who uses Cubase (or plans to do). Came across this link:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/sr...base_pid=706532

The link features screenshots from the coming version of Cubase (version 4). The screenshots reveal quite a lot about new features, i.e. it seems that Cubase will introduce an "environment"-feature like the one Logic has.

However, it has been seen before that fake screenshots, feature-lists etc. have been released. I have no knowledge as to whether or not this link is the real deal, but it doesn't strike me as a fake.

Anyway I came across the link, and now you can see for yourself...

Regards

this screenshots are real (no fakes!) the official announcement from steinberg will come at the end of september..

Posted by sterilis on Aug-25-2006 16:00:

whats the price range were looking at for this?

Posted by thecYrus on Aug-25-2006 16:08:

no prices are announcet yet. but for sx3 it was $199 for the update or around $800 for the full version..

Posted by Low Profile on Aug-25-2006 16:09:

probably 500-600 USD as usual?

I see they've included a universal patch browser, ala. NI Kore

I only heard this briefly, but isn't there are a trick where you buy sx3 really cheap and then only pay for the upgrade?

Thanks for the info!!

if thoose screenshots are real it seems like cubase will finally get what it should have gotten already in SX3, the ability to patch anything anywhere
yay, now everyone will be able to sidechain without using dodgy surroundtricks

Great! Just what the world of dance music needs so desperately: MORE sidechaining tunes

But yes, I know what you mean. It is very nice that we finally can patch things the way we want it. It also seems that some nice new synths will be included (and it seems that Steinberg has got quite some inspiration from Logic).

Damn.. I hope its set to hit stores in early 2007, can't fuck|n wait

Just hope they finally implement a way so that you can reorder inserts.
Looks like it in screenshot 4, not sure though.

the mods on the official steinberg forum said that inserts can be reordered and there will be a way to do sidechaining with a new VST version (probably named as VST 3.0)

Posted by farris on Aug-27-2006 18:40:

That's great to hear thecYrus! Seeing as Ableton already has this, don't know about Logic or other sequencers. I think it's just a logical feature to have this.

Whats wrong with sidechaining?? if used properly its one of the best techniques! I and a lot of people love to pump. Cant wait to see hos this is gonna kick Logics ass"!!!

Nothing really. It has been used for ages and I agree it's a great technique. I don't mind the use of it as a technique for glueing together kick/bassline or to duck delays on vocals triggered by lead vocals etc. I was merely referring to the growing number of tracks that are released that's build on almost nothing but a sidechaining-effect. Sidechaining as an effect. I loved it at first when Benassi and Eric Prydz did it. I still liked it when Royal Gigolo, Sunblock etc. came. However, enough is enough, right?
I mean.... There are so many releases right now on your average Bravo Dance Hits CD compilation (or whatever), where there's really no special melody, no incredible vocal talent, no message etc. in the music - but it seems that these tracks made their way to the charts because they are using the pumping effect of sidechaining anything with the kick

My point was: YES, we have heard that effect (even Madonna did it) .... now let's move on to something else!

And here we have Steinberg delivering the feature about 2 years too late. Way to go... Still very much considering a switch to Logic.

Dang, looks like whatever was up got taken down, clicking the link just takes me to the guitar center home page.

Ah well, from what I hear in the replies, it sounds promising. I just hope they do a better QA job with this than they did with version 3 (and version 2... and version 1).

I hate it when it's overdone (ie Benassi). However, it sounds nice when used in moderation in deep progressive tracks.

As for SX4, can't wait. Same with Live 6.
