stupid question

Why is it ok to start a new thread when Armin's Asot #42618753218 is live, but it's not right to let us know when the greatest local talent's set is broadcasted on the local radio station?

I find that kind of silly as well as the fact that local talent threads are adhered to the same rules as international star DJs.

One that I was very upset at getting locked is this one:
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=365270

First, he just posted pics of the night, chinamon does that every week, and his don't get locked. Second, it generated some good discussion about an event that I personally would have never even known about (and I'm sure same goes for others tha thave seen the thread). Thirdly, gay threads about how I should see Digweed at LOL are kept going for 5 pages, but this one got locked within a few replies. Move it to the events forum if you're gonna be a hardass about moderating, don't just fucking lock it..

that thread WAS promotional spam. wasnt even a roll call.

theres an events forum for a reason....all threads like that get closed so it was not a personal bias or anything of the sort

he posted a flyer for the next weeks event.... chinamon doesnt use his photo threads as a means to get word out for events.

thats the difference.

if he strictly posted pictures/review, it would have been fine - but he didnt

because its not the local talent that people are promoting, its the actual radio show itself, usually posted by someone directly affiliated with the show.

therefore - it's spam.

Complaints are to be formally submitted written on a 1"x1" pice of paper - in triplicate and mailed via registered mail.

how about closing all the roll calls started by the promoters? lol jk

i dont think there's anything wrong with affiliated ppl posting this kinda info. otherwise how should we find out about shows that might be interesting?

tranceaddict is supposed to be informative... but it's not... instead it's full of useless, sometimes offensive threads that moderators couldnt care less about.

im not trying to start a drama, or bash Del, I respect him very much, all I want is some explanations

cheers

ps. there are so many TA's with larger sigs than mine was... yet... rrr... guess smn is not a huge fan of Sydney lol

jk

Find me this thread.

Since Feb/2005 all radio related promo has gone into a single thread in Music Discussion.

The problem with allowing every radio thread is that everyone with a show will start a new thread, get their friends to reply if it goes off the first page, BUMP it when its about to go on, etc. Multiply this with multiple stations and multiple shows and you have a mess.

Until a dedicated radio area is set up this is the way it'll have to be. Also, as an aside, people take for granted what they can advertise on here for FREE - posting events in the event forum, links in their signature, etc. - the last thing I want is for discussion areas to turn into spam hq.

As for large sigs - if you want to report them - use this thread here

You can always PM a moderator to let them know of a thread you find offensive while keeping in mind that what may be a 'useless' thread to you may be of interest to someone else.

speak with del about that one. posting roll calls when you are directly involved with the event has always been okay as long as its within seven days of the event date. how about we also consider closing all roll calls started by the people who are borderline obsessed with the dj while were at it?

Perhaps we could start a dedicated toronto area radio thread sticky?

its ok to post a kiss 100 john digweed set for example but when its a local one it gets locked. So why not just put it all in one thread and forgeddaboudit!

No mess, no worries and people are able to keep updated on their favourite music
