new job

woo. sorry for my lack of activity in the last few months around here. i've been logging in daily as always and checking out the moderating side, but i havent had a lot of time to actually chill with you all. with neo not holding the position he did, ive inherited all of the admin duties ontop of the 50% i already had. You may have noticed we've had 3 new mods in the last month 4/6 weeks, sign of things to come

Anyway, for those that didnt already know i work for the government protecting the state benefit system from fraudsters, and stopping people claiming more then they should. i work in customer prosecution, overpayment calculations and also recovery.

Before i joined there i was an electrician for 3 years. i remember going around offices and seeing all these people drinking tea, totally clean, no sweat reading the internet and thinking "wtf am i doing??" so left electrics behind and joined an office. i think its safe to say that the grass isnt greener, far from it. you may be able to go the toilet when u want, make a drink, wander around and talk, brouse the web, but in exchange you have to put up with office poilitics, everything said behind your back, women , major fucking bordem, and (atleast my place) an obsession with recording and analysising stastics, meetings, dumb air con, list can go on forever.

so i've gone back to something i enjoyed now safe in the knowledge that office life isnt the bed of roses it looks from the outside.

before i was a domestic and commercial electrician, with a small involvement with industrial electrics. i'm now working (start 11 septemer) for an electrical engineering firm that designs and supplies control panels for high powered machinary. my first role is within the admin side of this company, but as its a small firm with probably 35 staff all in, none of the other shit i had with the gov will exist. after ive learned my main role which is purchasing, stock control, goods in, goods out and labour management, i'm going to be trained up (because of my practical electrical knowledge) on designing, building and constructing electrical control panels, look similar to this and this.

dunno what else to say really, but thought i should contribute to this forum a little bit more than i have lately
