You need a simcard reader.

don't you have them stored in your phone memory ?

Well that would depend on the phone configuration really.

Google ebay ... that kind of stuff.

( I can't vouch for these models or these brands so you'll have to figure out what's best yourself )

Really ? My guess is that all phones have their own memory. I always duplicate my phone book and keep one copy on the card and other on the phone. Best way to prevent such things from happening.

It's the user who decides ( or leaves the cell phone on whatever default setting it is ).

Some users prefer to save on the simcard because they swap phones a lot, or perhaps they save only on the internal memory and sometimes both ( when they run out of space on either the sim card or the internal memory ).

The simcard adress book standard is universal so if the contacts are saved on the card you can easilly use it on another phone.

here's more simcard readers:

yep that too!

remember ebay is your friend!

If you go and buy the "official" stuff at the stores they will usually rip you off.

But be careful on ebay ... they'll put 99 cents on an item for things like this and then charge you a ton for shipping bastards!

Posted by yujie__ on Aug-26-2006 00:24:

those expensive $.99 and unaffordable $.01 item are find depending on the seller, make sure you read alot of feedbacks

thanks for the advice guys, keep it comin!

my friend has a tmobile transfer cable that worked once w/ my phone when we lived in the dorms so i shall try that. too bad facebook doesnt allow mass messaging anymore

Posted by yujie__ on Aug-26-2006 02:16:

have u try bt or irdaing it to yuor laptop if yout lartop have is

Posted by PhaseFour on Aug-26-2006 02:18:

yujie-

i cant because my sim card is disabled, probably becasue my tmobile account is cancelled (the error is "invalid SIM card" for both my cingular and tmobile phones). unless u can tell me how to IRDA if i cant do anything w/ that sim but call 911

Posted by yujie__ on Aug-26-2006 03:06:

since that is what u have, the best option i think is to get a sim card reader or find someone who has an unlock gsm phone and see if they can read the sim card then xfer it for you. did u try a tmobile/cingular store to see if they can help?
