Read This! whole foods/half foods

what is your stance on organic foods and regular foods? i would just like a consensus. i like the whole foods/bread and circus supermarket but i definitely don't only eat organic food. i personally don't understand the recycled toilet paper and soy cookies, but i won't knock on it. sometimes i think some of the stuff is pretentious, but like i said i won't scream about it. i do like their fruits and vegetables and a small amount of other stuff they have. i like the regular supermarket too because i can buy a lot of tastier foods too.

so whole foods or "half foods" for you?

I stick with regular foods. It's affordable and if you have a good diet in general, it doesn't do you any harm.

I'm still questionable to why organic food is more expensive compared with whole foods. If it's because it involves more effort to keep them pristine of bugs and infections without pesticides, then fair enough, but it still shouldn't be that expensive. I guess that's just the marketing industry.

Still, regular foods ftw.

Do you have any freakin clue how hard it is to farm?

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Aug-26-2006 19:03:

yeah i can see why it should be a tad bit more expensive becase there's more of a risk not using those chemicals to protect the crop. some things there are a bit pricey but i guess it is worth it sometimes. one time i was in the grocery line and there was a woman in front of me that spent 404.00$ on groceries and they weren't even that many items! it might have been equivalent to a 150.00-200.00 price tag at a regular store.

i noticed some of their stuff is cheaper than what it would be sold at at a regular supermarket.

Posted by Ygrene on Aug-26-2006 19:13:

I only eat raw fish and I only drink organic wheatgrass juice. My diet is so pure I don't even poop anymore.

Next time I go shopping, I might try something organic, as a change. Might make me appreciate the country folk.

Food and regular excercises are important to keep your body in shape.

Posted by Perfect_Cheezit on Aug-26-2006 19:23:

I bought an organic banana recently because it was in better shape than the normal ones.

I try to buy organic food whenever I can, and shopping at Whole Foods, I always do.

But If I don't find organic I settle for regular food, because it doesn't make much of a difference.

Until I see a USDA/FDA study that proves organic food being far superior over whole foods, I'm sticking to whole foods. If I want organic foods, I usually go to Panera Bread for lunch. And, let's just say I've had better sandwiches at a NY delicatessen.

Your sig looks pretty organic, but will the mods approve?

EDIT: It might lead to a decline (or increase) in male TAs due to excessive fapping.

There is a diffrence, only on veggies and fruits . They are not grown with all the chemicals and BS that they put in.

Personally i do half and half organic and regular.

Regualar food doesnt do any harm, but point of organic is for really buff and fitness freaks who like to keep super healthy. It helps in their training and stuff.

But it also helps certain defecincies which non organic produce sometimes dont provide much of.

me = keeping good balance, regualar and organic.

EDIT- Organic food sure is tasty also, better than regular

There are numerous reasons that justify an increased cost of organic produce, some of them are good others are bad.

The biggest issue in my mind is licensing costs to be part of these organic labels. You are paying for a committee to put a stamp of approval on your product to say it fits the standard.
While these labels are trying to have their members follow a strict code of conduct in regards to a chemical free growing environnement, few to none have any forms of quality standards in regards to the quality of the products and it's tasty factor.
You could consider this the down side, or the drawback of stricting to adhere to strict organic only rules which drive up the costs.

Damaged and non caliber conforming produce are not uncommon.

The other very good reason as to why the products are more expensive is that because they are not chemically enhanced, the production is no artifically boosted.
Nature conforming growing times versus using chemicals to make the produce grow faster.
Less produce being grown per square meter than in chemically enhanced agriculture.

There are good and bad about the whole organic industry.

But at this stage the key thing is market demand and few local producers which forces non-organic growing to be the standard as it is more economical, yet organic is rapidly increasing and now you have companies like Mark and Spencers in the Uk selling organic only foods.

The organic food market is a booming micro-economy.

This being said, my drivel of speech typed out, I will say that I am a somewhat of a supporter of organic foods but I don't make a huge deal out of it forcing myself to eat just that.

I am part of a local farming cooperative where each members pays the farmer a couple months in advance to get a basket of produce bi-monthly.
Investing in the local farmers and getting fresh produce from them directly, how great

Fapping to a digital impersonation of a famous actress is non organic!

Hehe!

Organic is probobly better overall, but the price is the issue. Its just so stupidly expensive over here its pricing itself out of the market.

That said, if youve got a couple of quid and a bit of a time, set up a small trelliswork, buy a packet of runner bean seeds and you will literally get a freezer full of the things at the end of the year.

I'm fairly strictly organic, right down to my marijuana.

yeah...i guess part of it helps the farmers get some profit (with some of the products being expensive) i always se this sign by the register that says "support local frmers!" or something like that

local farming means less carbon emissions related to transporting the produce to you!

Do you have any idea how much pollution results from transporting stuff like grapes from Chile to North America?
