Sneaker Pimp Attn SFU students: Thurs Sept 7 - Main Convocation Mall @ SFU

Thurs Sept 7 - Main Convocation Mall @ SFU

The AqvaYak 4 Hour DJ set

10:30am - 2:30pm

This open air venue is great... the sound seems to echo but not enough for distortion. The temperature is awesome and of course I will be playing music to promote CJSF as a campus community club/organization.

Expect a variety of the styles i play. I got Caleb booked at this event last year and he really loved it too. So if you are in the area, drop by.

please dont

play some proggy house/trance, funky house, vocal housey stuff
play less independent productions, and underground stuff

but whatever sounds good to u, then just play it

raver trance is 1999 man

you don't know sean (not that i do all that well either).

a lot of his material is the older stuff, and honestly, i'm a little tired of this whole 'gotta play only the newest, latest, asot, cdr' style and push that goes on. not saying that's what you're doing or that that happens all the time, but what ever happened to encouraging people to dig up the stuff that made us trip over each other on the way to the floor from even last year? i say bring something of everything sean, and play to the crowd. i would recommend you start light with a few classics to get some people's attention, or some lighter stuff first and then you can decide where to go from there.

Posted by AquaYak on Sep-06-2006 15:28:

or i could play all picotto and marco v and then end with the original version of one night in NYC

Posted by AquaYak on Sep-06-2006 15:29:

which would be terrible

I was there for 5 minutes max....sorry I had to do some stuff but I heard BT's Mercury & Solace while walking from the AQ building to the book store. Sorry...like most students on the first week, you got stuff to do. But it sounded like a really good set.

Posted by apri_peel on Sep-09-2006 19:31:

oh shit! mercury and solace?!

tip to the new students, avoid doing anything administrative in the first week of classes. do it in august, saves you frustration and lots of time wasted in the line ups

Well...I bought my books in August...I just had to go to the book store to return a book I no longer needed. Really LOL...but the prof said we didn't need the textbook, because most of his stuff is from his notes.

I would of stuck for longer but I had to do some other stuff not related to school and headed out. But I think I heard something from Gouryella right after, not too sure, when I was walking to the bus stop.

Hey,

I wasn't on campus Thursday; sorry I missed it! I just discovered the glory of trance/house music in Montreal. (Actually, not just discovered, but more.. fully embraced my love for it) I'm glad to hear there's a trance radio show done by SFU!

Hurray!

Life @ 140 Live @ Simon Fraser Convocation Mall

4:15

The object of this was to play 4 hours of fun, melodic, uplifting and mellow trance for people usually not used to listening to EDM. I got about 50 people come over and say how awesome it was, plus about 10000 people had to hear me play. Only one guy asked me to play something differnet (after 3.5 hours), and he asked for house, so, good on him. This was the sort of set that you rememeber forever. The accoustics are amazing. Its a shame North Americans dont dance at noon.
