Arrangement Tutorial
Hey everyone just wanted to say that it's almost finished I'm adding the effects part of production right now and making all the screenshots. Expect it in the next few hours.
The arrangement tutorial will include the following subjects:
1. Full arrangement of a typical trance track
2. Adding of "cliche" trance elements
3. Very simple drum programming (drum loop and simple driving percs)
4. Usage of send tracks and what effects to add to them
5. Brief overview of different types of effects to add to instruments
If you have anything else you would like me to add quickly, leave a reply. I will create other tutorials if wanted just post a subject and I will lay down my knowledge on the subject.
Great stuff, look forward to this!
Just curious as to what your sequencer of choice is going to be for the tutorial, though I know the basic principles will still apply.
It will be based in FL Studio 6. Of course the basics apply to all sequencers only difference is the layout.
info on how u eq'd certin sounds to fit the mix......
info on how u placed the sounds in the stereo field.....
Tell me if there's anything I can help you out with!
We need more people making tutorials. I my self has made a couple of tutorials for FL. One of them is posted on this forum.
I would like to work with someone and produce a tutorials regularly.
Are you interested Lindo?
looking forward to it
really looking forward to reading this :-)
Yeah I'm definitely interested Corteoz. Leave me a msg on msn or aim.
MSN - [email protected]
AIM - osiris1054
Edit:
jey: This is an arrangement tutorial so I feel that eqing fits more into the mixdown process vs. the actual arrangement part of production. If Corteoz would like though, we could both work on an eqing part of production along with the rest of the mixdown process? PM me if you guys would be interested in that part of production and I could try helping you out along with Corteoz. The mixdown process I really am just getting much better at so I'm no professional at that yet.
About instruments in the stereo field, I guess I could attempt at writing that part although I don't feel my tracks "surround" the listener all that great. I've been working really hard on it and I have some ideas, but I don't feel I have great enough knowledge to help you out THAT well with that part.
Lindo
I think if you could create or add a build tutorial in addition to your arrangment tutorial this would be real helpful.
a lot of guys dont know how to do this:
for example start with one melody then add new elements on top of it and morph new elements in and out into sub melodies ,until you get to the main riff.
without loosing the theme of the track.
you see this a lot in the intro or breakdown of tracks.

best thing to do is start with a sub melody or arp ,then build on top of it staying in the same scale ,adding more melodies,fx ,etc
hopefully Lindo can post something soon im not real good writing tutorials but i know drops and breakdowns are just as important as melodies.
alright give me a few more hours I'm adding in the build part of the tutorial. I'll post it when it's finished
hey everyone. I've decided that instead of writing up this whole stupid thing, im going to instead make it into an avi so that people can view and watch as I go through step by step. I feel this way, everyone will get a better idea of what I'm doing exactly. The video will include myself speaking through each step of the production process. I'm going to put a lot more work into this than I thought I would, but I assure you that it will be well worth it. Sorry for the delay
do post the flp too man... i'd love to examine it as well
Good idea, I think a lot of people would be interested in watching this...
YOU YOU YOU YOU YOU YOU YOU GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO
POST POST POST POST POST POST!
Sounds great Lindo! Look forward to it.

I know I always seem to repeat myself, but if I don't happen to catch this when it's done, please PM me about it and I'll put a link to it on the master list. Having some videos on there would be great!
The idea sounds great, will help a lot of us
Sounds great Diginerd. Alright everyone the long awaited wait is finally over. The video is kind of long, but it's well worth it since there's so much to learn from it. This is mainly oriented to novice/intermediate users, but this might also help out some others that don't know some tricks. I'm no genius at producing, but I feel I have a few tricks up my sleeve that some might not know about.
I'm uploading the video in a second, but if someone could pm me a place and some info I could post it permanently then that would be GREATLY appreciately. This way we could have it always posted up. So who's willing to donate some webspace? I'm trying to make the filesize a little smaller than it already is just for faster dl and quicker ul speeds.
Inside of the flp I also used Fruity Notebook so that people that don't want to download the movie can also follow through with just the flp and my writing. I feel I've gone into pretty good depth with most concepts except effects usage since that's almost entirely dependent on the effect the producer is trying to achieve. Automations are only used a small amount just to give everyone a brief overview of some techniques they can achieve using them.
I've split up the video into 5 different sections, but I'll give a more indepth idea of what the video is about when I upload it somewhere. So someone respond quick and we can get this show on the road. I'm going to be away for about 10-15 mins, but someone help me out here!!

How big is the video? I might be able to help you with the hosting (no promises though - depends on the size).
For the record, Diginerd is a different character on here. I know our names and writing styles are somewhat similar, but my ghey-blue-purple text should be the giveaway.
definitely interested in seeing this tut. i just hope u find proper host for this
lol diginut i totally meant type out diginut, but for some reason instead typed diginerd. So sorry for the misprint, but the video is around 50-60MB right now. I'm trying to get it a little lower using different video/audio codec compressions with no luck so far. If you can work with something that big then sweet otherwise I might just have to do speedshare or something.
