[psy/prog] Science of Shape - Jeremiad Suffusion (jex's Sexy Guitars Mix) [192 full]

Science of Shape is a solo post rock project by a guy I know on another forum. I heard these guitars in one of his songs and knew that a remix was in order. This remix is chill, but with a lot of trippy elements and nice rhythms. If I do say so myself. Of course, the main attraction is the sexy guitar riff.

Love the intro. Some awesome sounds, I especially like the high decending chimes.
1:15 like the bass drum. The Flangered bass is groovy!

3:50 the low distorted / panning synth is cool.

From 6:30 to around 9:00 I was enjoying the trippy journey.

Nice acid layer...

Superb layering.

11:30 Sweet variation

this tune takes it's time to progress, though im digging the layed back nature of it. On the second listen I appreciated the epic length alot more. I can sit back with my beer & just flow with it. The only thing I would recommend is to reduce the track length by a few minutes; Well I guess I deffinently got my moneys worth any how! Thanks for sharing mate. Very enjoyable!

15 minutes? Holy hell.

I love how you take your time with the intro. Also, the way you introduce the kick and bass is really cool - fiddling with the delay of that arpy effect and all.

Overall, the atmosphere works. Enough changes are in the track to keep me interesting pretty much from beginning to end. Here's a couple of things I noticed, though:

Some of the effects that are in higher up in the frequency spectrum are a bit too pronounced. Try more reverb on them to drown them back.

I love that sexy guitar . In fact, it's nice that you let go of all the intro fx by 5:00 - very refreshing. You should have moved on sooner, though.

When you change that acidy arp at 5:55 by introducing one note an octave higher, try lowering the velocity on that note to make it less pronounced. I think it would sound less out of place, since the change is sudden. But by about 7:10, I change my mind . I love that 303 line. Very Juno Reactor'ish. 11:30 is really cool as well. Nice break + more percs.

Once again, I love how the guitar fits - this track doesn't sound like a remix because you didn't make the guitar the centerpiece. I like this track as much as I like Juno Reactor's Rotorblade - awesome track. Nice work, though as I said, the first 5 minutes could be shortened by maybe 45 secs.

Cheers!

Xenocreator: I've been trying to think of ways to bring the length down.

Also, "getting your money's worth" out of this track isn't saying much. :P

Alex Petelin: The lower velocity on the added arp note is a good idea. I think I might go for more of a gradual fade-in for that note.

RickyM: Hey, man, where's that review you were talking about.

I see how you can take that it's not what I meant though. Just my humour; as your track was shared. The quality of your productions are awesome mate

very good production as already said. clear sounding, good layering, smooth build up. but it's a bit too epic for my taste. the last third of the track gets exhausting. though it depends much on the mood and the situation when you listen to it. imo reducing the length to about 12 minutes would be a good compromise, still leaving you plenty of time for progression and build up.
