Is there a visible line between analog and digital?

Please explain where analog ends and digital begins.

Analog | Digital

There's the line.

I know, right?

You, Myra, and I need a weekend sometime soon again... Love that 'nilla...

I'm free the weekend of the 9th. That's it until the middle of October. However I strongly suggest a date with Danny Howells on the 22nd.

oh man, Howells is the 22nd, huh. i don't even care about Howells but with the insane showing of TAs at the last Howells show, it'd be worth it to be there...

but i believe we're playing @ Raven's on the 23rd, so that might be a no-go.

Bobby, are you going to the Zabiela show on the 8th?

Posted by UWM on Aug-30-2006 17:08:

Not sure yet about Zabiela. Money is pretty tight with lengthy weekends in Chicago / Puerto Vallarta coming up so I might be limiting myself to only Danny Howells as far as nights out. I'm sure by next weekend I can convince myself though

Posted by stren on Aug-30-2006 17:08:

you don't care about howells ? blasphemy

Posted by Ygrene on Aug-30-2006 17:10:

Now hold on just a damn minute! Where is Zabiela playing? I'll be near Chicago on the 8th and may be free....

Well I can say that nowadays analog stuff is better than it was prior to 30 years ago. Vinyl sounds clearer (probably due to better pressing, and because a lot of tracks are made digitally first), and analog mixers are better (like from Ecler or A&H), and many people prefer them to the limited number of digital mixers (the only truly digital mixer seems to be the DJM 800).

Digital files have their ups and downs, but I think a WAV file sounds cleaner than some of the vinyl records out there, because vinyl attracts dust and it can harm the quality of the record over time, plus no popping or crackling noises.

Analog or Tube TVs are poor, Digital TVs (HDTVs..plasma, lcd) are much better and I'de say are the future. So the future is digital, but there are some really good analog equipment out there, esp DJ technology. So the line hasn't been completely drawn yet, but people will have to drop analog stuff in the future. They will be antiques..and probably worth something..probably more than digital i'de say, like old cars...

oooh nice! money is tight for us too and it's the first weekend after school starts, so if there's bomb shit goin on in Point that weekend we will probably spend the weekend there...

unless Ygrene is in Chicago!!!! z0mg! i think RJT and i would agree that Ygrene > *

stren - i'm kind of indifferent when it comes to Howells. i don't love him but i don't hate him. i wasn't blown away by his set when i saw him, and i've never really gotten hooked on any of his livesets/CDs. i think he's a talented guy he just doesn't really play the style that i love.

ok, sorry for totally hijacking your thread, Temperate.

I'm waiting on a phone call from one of my guys in Indiana. I'm in his wedding that Saturday but, I don't know if he has dinner rehearsal plans/bachelor party or what for that Friday. He's calling me back sometime today.
