Hernan Cattaneo Friday 9/1 @ Crobar

Wondering if anyone is going to this. The wife, friends and I were originally planning on heading to Ferry in Atlantic City to celebrate our anniversary, but that fell through since my little brother's birthday is on Saturday and I don't feel like staying in AC overnight and rushing home back to the island, let alone driving back right afterwords. So Hernan is is...

Just a forewarning from Crobar's weekly email flyer

That's main room, not the Reed Room. The Flawless DJs usually play decent stuff from 10-1 in the Reed Room, depending on who they get.

LOVE is dope, but sometimes being in a room with 5 ppl can get a little boring. Im sure Christian Smith is pretty good but I'll prob be at Crobar for Hernan as well.

Pffff "old school" and "classics". I'd love to know what the fuck that means, when catering to a hip hop and "house" crowd. They throw those terms around to make the pretentious crowd sound musically cultured or some shit. Aaaaaaaannnyyyway - yeah we'll be sticking to the Reed Room until Hernan comes on. Don't have a problem with that. I'd have probably gone to Love maybe, but I've only seen Hernan once down at Ultra this year, and have been looking forward to him again ever since.

I love Hernan. So I'll be there. With earplugs on 'till 2.

We're probably either going to Love or Element and not staying late since we've got a wedding to attend the next day.

Also, Mel, I thought I read a review about you hating Hernan during WMC, or am I mistaken?

I know what it means since I was there the night they started doing this shit. It means hip hop, 80s, and house music from 2004-2005. As for the use of the word classics, let's put it this way: He's not going to be mixing Todd Terry tracks with 50 Cent.

haha yeah. I saw Hernan back to back w/ Dave Seamen sp? and it was a totally wack party.

I mentioned this to Tom and then again i'm only going to have a few drinks and check out the club. Not to really "party"

some TA's told me that it was probably Dave that I mostly didn't like. You can't get a good feel of the dj if he only plays 1-2 tracks at a time.

I've been away from the city all summer --- what's this I hear about Hip Hop on the main floor until 2am? Who does that... isn't the point of there being an opener to build the crowd up to the DJ's tracks? That can't really happen when they're playing a completely different style of music. Is Crobar going downhill?

Dave Seaman hasn't impressed me much the last couple times I saw him, but Hernan consistenly has. You'll probably enjoy him on Friday pending the crowd doesn't bother you.
