Thumbs up New easy Mastering pluggin!

Hey!

Just found this, looks cool

Magic spectrum [tdm,au,vst and mas]

The most basic (and extremely useful!) utility that Magic Spectrum provides is the Matching of spectrums. For example: take a track you like the sound of, and play it to Magic Spectrum. Then, take your track and analyse your sound. Finally, apply the sound 'character' of the song you like to your own song, in whichever amount you like. As simple as that! Fast and simple!

If you have no songs to use as a reference, you may also load any of the many included presets, analyzed from some of the best recordings of all time, or from specific-sounding masters.

Magic Spectrum can also be used as an EQ that emphasizes the results, or you can even load 4 different responses and vectorially combine these responses in the way you like, to add more character of one sound or more of another

The Advanced mode literally lets you manipulate the spectrum by providing graphic edition tools that enable you to have direct access to the spectrum of the song itself, with an amazing precision!!!

DUY's Magic Spectrum is available for TDM, RTAS, Audio Units, VST and MAS/MOTU users on Mac OSX. The TDM version is called "Magic Spectrum PRO".

Cool.. eey? hehe

As a rule, you generally want to avoid any product with the word "magic" in the title.

There are a couple of these tools already out.
Haven't tried any, but I'm rather sceptical.
And I agree a bit with DigiNut .

Am I the only one that wonders how this relates to the whole notion that no two songs can be mastered to the same specifications?

Uh, yeah. Seems to me this is a last resort type of tool, if you don't know much about mastering and can't afford or find someone to do it. That's not to say it couldn't be a usefull tool. I'd like to give it a try. What are the names of the other mastering software simular to this one?

Posted by S-Tune on Sep-01-2006 22:53:

Well, i tried out something like this tool but i wasnt convinced (have to admit that i didnt put much time into it)... some sounds dramatically changed cause the tool raised frequencies that changed the tonality of drums, etc.

If you have a bad mix you will get a bad result... e.g. if your snare is too loud, the tool will lower the whole low mids --> now your snare is maybe at the right volume but the rest is too silent!

Dont think that this tool is "magic"

Would be interesting to what results this program came out with.
Just had a look myself and its mac only the demo, unfortuantely I haven't got a mac.

Interesting if anyone gets it and tests it and posts the results.
