Exclamation main riff help

most tracks usually have some sort of build ,some morphing leads
and a lot of different synths leading up to your main melody.

so my question is when you guys getto your main riff do you just let it play un altered for a while maybe ,let a different instrument play the riff ,have some harmony ,some counterpoint.

or do you guys have your riff sound similar to your builds with a lot of movement ,lots of synths moving in and out,i want people to remember the riff and and anticiapate it i dont want it to sound too much like the intro and the builds ,so how do you guys usually play your riff when you get to your main section?

I usually tend to make my leads sound different from all the rest in my tracks/remixes. Basically because I want to keep it as some sort of 'surprise' or something the listener can look forward to.

A 'hint' or some single notes from the lead can never hurt I think, though I hardly ever use a whole lead line for the build. I usually build up the countermelodies during that part.

It's not that I dislike tracks/remixes that use the lead during the buildup, though most of the time for me it kills the track a bit as there's no real surprises anymore during the climax.

But, as you can probably say with many things, this will be pretty relevant from person to person
