-- Well....they lasted almost exactly 2 years

Cool Well....they lasted almost exactly 2 years

My first pair of Sony 7506s!

Last night, 5 mins before I was finishing, the right cup started cutting out and back in again.

Still on the original ear pads with no tears or rips, and until last night absolutely 100% flawless and perfect since new.
Thats up to 4 nights use per week for 2 years , and about 25 trips across the atlantic when plugged into my laptop.

Am happy with that!

Have a spare (brand new) pair I will be using now until I identify and order the part to fix them.
Will pick up another new pair in NYC next sunday too

Heres to another 2 years for the best headphones I have ever used.

Two years is a while- and I'm sure some last for longer.

I love it when you buy somthing and you don't get your pants pulled down for a price and it lasts you for a really long time and you get a lot of use out of it. Feels fucking great and the best satifscation ever!

Cheers for the use thou! :P

i've worked in radio stations that still have pairs lying around from years and years and years ago

when something breaks, order a new part and fix it

a proven industry standard workhorse

you're stupid not to own these headphones

^Agreed. My dad's headphones are already 20 years old and still working. Here's how they look like:

edit: I forgot to say out of those 20+ years we only had to repair them once.

That's the main reason I hate Sony headphones of any kind because of that stupid cutting out of the sound and short lifespan. You always end up wiggling the wire for audio until you break it. They may have great sound, but the quality of their products are bad except for televisions. Sony makes great tvs.

Other than cracked pads, I've read that some ppl have had them goin for 20 years.

I still bought senn HD280s instead for the 33dB isolation. It's been a year nearly... still goign strong, no problems. i treat them like utter shit. Just toss them in my bag. Dunno why ppl complain they're brittle.

my hd280s cracked after the first few weeks of using them and i took best care of them. electrical taped them and last week they cracked again.

i'll be getting some 7506 this week

I got the ever so breakable Sony v700s and mine are around 4 years old now, maybe older, and I treat them like dirt, how they haven't broke yet I don't know, they been dropped, sat on, crushed in bags, squeezed, and work like a champ ever time, will probably be looking at replacing them before the year is over though.

hahaha, that's pretty much like mine.

Actually i'm lucky, i dont need to extend them much. ALso, i've read about where the cracks happen. I've removed the pad at the top of the head, as they're not needed because the headphones put enough force on ur head to stay up without touchign ur head, and plus u have to extend them way less. I've also done some pre-emptive taping.

They've really lasted quiete well after that.

There's been very few days where i haven't put these on scince i got them. i've even abused the interior by listening to them at volumes just before they start distorting. I've started taking care of them now, as it's been about 9 months, and it's at this time most of them break. I've stopped doing it now. Originally, i just assumed that being so expensive (especially in AUS), they'd take any beating.

Posted by skip on Sep-05-2006 13:07:

my sennheiser hd280's headband is cracked a bit. they're just over 2 years old. other than that i fucking love them. but i don't want to get a new pair as they'll probably break too. been thinking about getting the 7506's, but they're fucking expensive here, around 150 or so. too bad i don't know anyone who's travelling to the USA soon as i'd ask them to bring me a pair.

Sony MDR-V6's here. Six years and still going strong.

Damn you'd think they'd last a bit longer.

I'm still waiting for my HD280s to croak so I can upgrad to the HD25s, but I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

rock on! i bought 7506s without even trying them after your first thread about them Freak, and had a friend order them as well, and we're both quite happy. they're over a year old so far and great. only a stupid friend of mine stretched out my damn cable when i lent it to him (that ****). i was wondering, do they sell cables seperately? (in case i never need a replacement).

some wear and tear on the pads, thanks to the same ****y friend.

edit: anyone know where i can get screw-in 1/8" to 1/4" adaptors, like the one on the 7506? a friend broke his SOMEHOW.

I never let mine out of my sight when it comes to other people.

I never lend headphone to people, they might have strange bugs in their ears or really dirty ears.

Posted by DJ Sid on Sep-07-2006 14:52:

my Stanton DJ Pro 2000 is now 2 years old, and still doing fine, being used every day

Posted by Psiweaver on Sep-07-2006 16:21:

My hd25s are going strong and i've had them for almost a yera and my hd 280 pros are still doing great after almost 2.

Posted by Freak on Sep-07-2006 17:30:

update- its only the wire going into the right cup. An obvious weaker point- easy fix.
Most happy
