Steve Irwin, also known as The Crocodile Hunter, has been killed. Aussie media and CNN are reporting that he was killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest. He was swimming at north Queensland's Batt Reef at the time, where he was filming an underwater documentary.

Steve Irwin became a reptile enthusiast at a young age. He was only eight years old when his father moved the family to Queensland and opened up a small reptile park. Irwin took over the family business in 1991 and turned it into the Australia Zoo. According to Wikipedia, The Crocodile Hunter television show was created in 1992 from footage of crocodile trapping/antics on his honeymoon with his American wife, Terri. His outrageous personality made him an instant hit in the United States.

Irwin was 44 years old. He leaves behind a wife, Terri, and two young children, Bob and Bindi.

I actually heard from Aussies that that's not true, that they held back the news from the TV/internet for an hour yesterday so she could be contacted. They say she knows.

The dude spent his whole life doing conservation work for the animals you want to leave alone (and leave to be razed out of their territory by humans)

Of course his show was also a business venture. Wrestling with crocs, people watched it, he made money. In any case, it's not like we were all expecting this freak stingray death any day, but if you can see into the future, tiesto14, why don't you tell us the next animal entertainer who's gonna die, and how?

why dont you do some fucking research and see what Steve Irwin has contributed to the animal community in terms of research/funding and even fucking tourism in Australia. He never bothered any animals he loved them and his passion was courageous if you expect us to be like oh great he died saw that coming then you should really check yourself.
