Hello! Trekking-Trip through Sweden

Hello guys,

Maybe u can give me some advices refering to my trip through sweden.
A friend and me are planning a trekking tour through norway and sweden. We will stay in Stockholm from 14.9-16.9 and further on 18.9 in Kiruna. Do u can recommend us some nice sightseeing places in Stockholm? Places/Buildings that should be seen by tourists. We will also walk through the wonderful landscape.
Oh well, and still a further question. Do u can recommend us some parties/clubs in Stockholm playing some nice prog/electronic house/breaks sounds at this time, I would lovely listen to some of your country's favourite artists like Parham, Martin H, Inkfish, David West, Ozgur Can and so on, but of course I wont be defered to listen to other dj's too.
Please tell me everything that could help me. I appreciate every advice and help!

feeling kinda sad that nobody has replied to your post earlier...
maybe you have more specific questions?
I have traveled through a lot of the Swedish countryside but never went far up north

hello Syntophax

here are some tips for Stockholm

In January this year I had a friend over all the way from Auz. Since it was cold winter at the time it was kinda hard to come up with things to do in Stockholm (A summer city). I tried to get him to go ice skating, he refused. In fact, the closest thing to snow we got, was making angels(He hadn't seen snow before that. That could explain the childish act).

Now here are some other things we did (much appreciated)

Visited the "Absolute Ice Bar" The worlds first permanent ice bar, right in the heart of Stockholm. The interior is kept at -5C all year round. All of the interior fittings, including the glasses, are made of pure, clear ice from the Torne River in northern Sweden.

Package price from 150 SEK
-Price includes warm clothing
-Choice of drink in ice glass
-The "ice experience"

Well worth it imo!

Opening hours in September

Mon - Thur 3pm- Midnight
Fri 3pm - 1am (Drop in 9.45pm - 1am)
Sat 3pm - 1am (Drop in 9.45pm - 1am)
Sun 3pm - 10pm

Address: Vasaplan 4
close to the Central Station and the Arlanda Express train. Just ask for the Nordic Sea Hotel.

There are plenty of museums in Stockholm.. not that I'm a big enthusiast but here's a list

Walk in the old town Very gemtlich Interesting buildings with history, nice shops and a classic tourist attraction. You'll see the royal castle as well. You'll pass it on your way to the Old town.

Another tourist thing to do is to go watch a movie at Cosmonova. It's not typical Stockholm, but a nice experience and a good way to spend your time. Link here

When it comes to sightseeing... hmm, well.. try to take a trip with one of all the boats. Maybe the one from Slussen to Djurgrden. (an Island with the great amusement park "Grna Lund", also "Skansen" -A famous zoo). It's very cheap and a great way to see Stockholm (the City on Water).

My personal favourites when it comes to sightseeing are:

Monteliusgngen (take a walk from subway station: Slussen). If you're interested I can post a map. View from Monteliusgngen:

or

Skinnarviksberget. Subway station: Zinkensdamm. I can post more info if you're interested.

view from Skinnarviksberget:

Otherwise I think you should check out this page if you haven't already.

About clubbing, I have no idea.. Stay tuned, something may come up later.

thx for this extensive information about Stockholm, Glorie

There are some very interesting places u suggest to me, especially the "Absolute Ice Bar" and "Monteliusgngen". I think we will visit these places for sure. Cosmonova seems to be very interesting too. Whats the "Skinnarviksberget" like exactly? Is it a hill in the middle of stockholm or something like that? Oh and thx for the links.
Just let me know if u got further information about stockholm and its nightlife especially.

@Scul

Some specific questions? Well, I am very interested in architecture. Maybe do u know some good places/buildings represant swedish architecture in stockholm? I would lovely learn something about swedish history/nature/society etc. by visting some specific museums, too. Do u know some of them?
Unfortunetly, I dont find out some information about nightlife in stockholm. Please give me some advices where I can experience typical swedish partys.

well I am not an expert in Stockholm or city architecture cause quite frankly I enjoy the countryside more.
I must say that imo, one of the finest architectural buildings in Sweden, is built in Malm .... LOL ... which is kinda far from Stockholm
but take a look:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turning_Torso

if you go to Cosmonova you can visit "Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet" at the same time where you can see all kinds of things from the Swedish nature and science. It's in the same building

since i'm not a local I can't help about clubs or anything in the Stockholm nightlife either, Steve should be up for that.

Hey man .. this club is considered as one of the best in Sthlm

http://www.grodan.se/cocktailclub/

On the 16th of september, Tomas Anderson [Washing up] is doing a liveset @ that club .. its a really small club with a good atmosphere, this is where all the big swedish dj's play when they are home .. like the housemafia, beyer, dahlbck etc etc

Exactly! Map here
(highest (natural) place in Stockholm with 53m)

If you go to the Ice bar, u got to tell us here when u come back. Drinks are small but strong and long lasting And of course they come in glasses made of ice.

If you like architechture, check out this museum
Free entrance. Or pick a building from this drop-down menu and go see it for real.

What else... yeah the museum Scul suggested is a must see if u're going to Cosmonova.. there u'll learn about Swedish nature for sure.

bout clubbing again: I know there is one club called Moatje

They are open fridays and saturdays. A very cool, stylish club. Unsure about the music.. Ive only been there once when zgur Can played.

It's VERY close to the Ice bar. Like a stone's throw away. So u could start at the hotel, then head on to the Ice bar, then to Moatje and finish up @ Grodan
