Trance/EDM scene in VANCOUVER??

Hey guys,

I'm not from Vancouver, but considering a move out there. How is the Trance/EDM scene there? Are there any clubs or weekly nights dedicated to trance music? Is vancouver a hub for international talent at all? Any radio shows, tv stations, etc. that feature EDM?

Also, what is the cost of living like out there? How much does a typcial 1 or 2 bedroom flat run for?

Lots of questions, but I figure this is the best place to ask since we're all bonded by the same thing!

Cheers,
dji

if you're living in holland right now, i can tell you straight up, cost of living in vancouver is lower than in holland, even though, we are one of the most expensive places to live in canada

club wise, we are more of a house/prog city than trance, but we do get trance events, probably once a month or so, but nothing regular. there is a club night on wednesdays at cyber that plays trance, but im not really sure how regular and official it is

we've got a weekly trance radio show run by a TA, its not on any major radio stations, a university station, but still on FM

no tv shows. altho, on satellite, we've got BPMtv which is kind of like a dance tv station but they play lots of commercial clubby and hip hop videos, not much of good quality trance

ah... i'm actually living in LA now... how's the cost of living then? so no dedicated trance nights? is there anywhere in canada that does have that? i've heard a lot about toronto and montreal...

vancouver is cheaper than LA

toronto and montreal have well established trance scenes
in vancouver, i think we're slowly getting there

we usually get 1-2 quality dj's every month :|

vancouvers a pretty sweet place to live even with out the trance scene

toronto's trance scene is pretty small too, only big headliners for the trancelovers most of the time. lots of prog and the rest of it though with some trance blended in as well. all you need for a good trance fix is your computer and lots of memory

shes lies

i think we need more trance events here! or even house or progressive!

If any you organizers need any help with anything i can on weekends! to help support the EDM community here, doesnt seem like many people here care!

DUDE the best part is vancouver has the beautiful scenery to go with it!

rest assured that not a single city in Canada (nor North America) can touch the magnitude and frequence of events held on the old continent.

Toronto and Montreal are the only hubs in booking with several top international djs every weekend, partly because the promoters from these cities assure a weekend combo booking to the djs, friday/saturday in either Mtl/Toronto.

edit: Montreal doesn't have a regular trance scene either, even tho we had Armin Ferry and Ulrich Van Bell this last weekend.

sure if you're the granola type who wants to bike 365 days a year to work while checking flowers on the way with the mountains as a backdrop then Vancouver is your perfect match.

for the rest of us, the hustle bustle of a real city with an urban fabric is what keeps us wanting for more.

hey now! we're a real city too
we just like to trade in our suits and dress shoes for casual track pants and flip flops on the weekend while sipping beer on the patio in the middle of october

hahaha weeeeeird! I was just thinking, "I wonder what the trance scene is like in Vancouver??" and then I saw this thread.

I am probably going to be moving to Vancouver in October. I guess Toronto's scene is much better, but I hope I can still enjoy some trance in Vancouver. I would be lost without it.
