what do you guys think of posting amature sets in this section?
hey guys
well this is technically my first post ever.. and i been a TA for the longest time. but just kinda to shy to post things.. anyhoot not only did i decide to make my first post.. i wanted to actually post up one of my first ever recorded sets i mixed over the weekend... just to get some feedback.. however.. i thought maybe i should ask around first.. cuz i seen some of the replies ppl gave to other posted sets and i got the impression it was shunned upon to post ur sets in this section.. this is actually the only section i read up on .. and im from vancity.. so just wanted to know what u guys thought..
was actually hoping that april would reply to me.. since she seems to be the most helpful and kind to the noob questions here..
do it.
i think what gets some peoples goats is when a set gets posted and the person acts cocky.
if its your first set ever, then no one is going to say anything about your mixing.
Actually if it's your first set ever, I'd definitely comment on the mixing. Why sugarcoat if the criticism is not constructive? Maybe I don't post enough here but I *try* to be as helpful to new DJs as possible.
Best thing to do when you start is to record every single time you get down to mix and listen to them to hear where you made mistakes AND where the mix sounded good. This will help in your development as a DJ.
By all means, post the set.
woohoo! i've got a fan hehe
i'd be happy to listen and give some feedback, but by no means am i knowledgeable in that area. julian (jussed) in fact is someone with lots of knowledge, listen to him, he knows what he's talking about
hey.. thanks sean, julian and (and i hope i get it right this time) elena not april? for your guys input.
but i think i got a little in over my head when i had that impulse to post a set. you know its that first giddy feeling when u actually done a recorded set and u really wanna hear what other ppl think. when julian was commenting on the constructive criticism of THE MIXING i just realised.. that im totaly not at that level of djing.. because i dont use vinyl to mix... i use mp3's .. the setup i use is hercules dj console mk2 .. and i use a labtop with the VDJ software.
i mean.. i would still love to get some feedback.. and still like to share my mixing. just didnt wanna mislead anyone on the form of media i use.
u guys consider still consider what i do mixing?
the equipment you use is not the most important thing, especially when you're starting up. there are other things to listen for, like track selection, flow of sound, mixing too to a certain extent, but depends if software is mixing or if you are mixing
post away. take the positives and the criticisms, and ignore the flaming.
you can also consider the amateur dj forum for posting sets, but that area is not for the timid, as the number of flamer to non-flamer ratio increases there
defo throw it up
ts all good
hey.. just wanted to say i appreciated all your guys input and i posted my set up today... hope you guys will give it a listen and enjoy the trance.. let me know what u think ^__^
