Time To Vote!!!
quote:
Hi Everybody, I just finished my gig in Las Vegas half an hour ago. I had an epic weekend with four great shows. I spent a couple of days in Tahoe, went to Austin Texas, a festival in Chicago and the Global festival at the Palms hotel in Vegas. Every night I went out with the promoter of the city I was in and most of them where bringing up the DJ Magazine top 100 voting. It's a big thing for most of the promoters and most of them will book DJ's that are high on this list. That made me think, because if that's the case the voting is important. Especially to breed new talent. There are so many new great young DJ's out there that I feel it's time to give them a chance. I appreciate all the love and support I get from all over the world but I won this award three times so if I would win it a fourth time, it wouldn't make a difference for my career. For the new talented DJ's around the world it could make a difference, so I would like to ask all the people who support me to vote for new talent. Don't vote for me, vote for the new breed! I just voted myself and my personal top 5 is: 1.Eddie halliwell 2.Sander van doorn 3.Serge deviant 4.Blake jarrell 5.Richard Durant Thanks again to everybody who came to my shows and who bought the new single 'dance4life'! Love, Tisto
Wow.... Congratulations Blake...
Also, very cool of Tiesto to encourage voting for new talent... Regardless of how effective his efforts are, it's nice to see!
that's rad. ![]()
and while we're on the topic of DJ Mag voting, i had quite a laugh at the bulletin Lee Burridge sent out on myspace regarding the poll...

Anal Sex ..is fun and all but in between poundings go and vote for ME in this cursed thing know as 'the dj mag top 100'. Go here www.djmag.com/top100 and drag my sorry arse up from a pathetic 78, which is where I was beaten down to last year by lots of dj's neither you or I have ever heard of (and still haven't). It seems canvassing voters is the only way to achieve any sort of ranking. I have always loathed this approach but due to (almost) falling into chart obscurity now have to 'play the game'. I'm definitely the 7th best dj in the world but if YOU (imagine me pointing out of the screen right now) can help me get to six or higher i'll definitely buy you a pint of cider down the pub to celebrate. The voting has started and a dj mag insider has told me I've already got four votes (thanks mum, dad, peanut and tiesto) so click the link and then, if you have any love, make everybody you know vote to. DO IT!!!!! I'm planning on a world tour, not to dj but to canvass for votes via handshaking, kissing babies and speeches full of promises of what I'll do once IN POWER at number 7 in the chart...or higher if you get on it enough.anal Why are you still reading? VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!! I love you. Leeeeeeee Ok...go back to doing bum sex.
Yea....after meeting Tiesto this weekend, I have so much respect for this guy. Blake and I just walked up to him backstage and told him we were the guys who did the Chasing Cars remix and then we ended up talking for a bit. He seemed sincerely interested and often asked Blake and I questions about what each of us are doing and production. He was very humble as well as people would yell saying he is the #1 dj in the world and he laughed and turned to me at one point and is like....Im not number one anymore...my time there is passed and now its time for new talent to be there...He then mentioned who he thinks will be the Top 5 and who he was going to vote for and he didnt mention himself once. Maybe Im biased because he gave continual praise to the remix of Chasing Cars that Blake and I did, but it was cool he took the time to just talk with us. So for all of you Tiesto bashers out there.....hahaha....cut the guy some slack...hes a lot nicer than you think....

I got to spend some time with him a few months back, and he's definitely a nice guy. Good to see him encouraging new talent.
Congrats Blake! Also just heard the tail end of your remix of "Louder" on ASOT, well done.

well that was my only gripe with it - the stuttering seems to be a bit random. it could definitely work with some refinement, but its a little too structured sounding i guess. i'm not quite sure how to describe what i'm thinking of.. i'm big into the stuttering, so if you want any help reworking it i'd be glad to help.

That's pretty fuckin epic blake! congrats.
The poll is a fucking joke and to participate in it would be to acknowledge its validity. If anything, it is detrimental to the state of EDM.
Not a condemnation of the artists within it, rather a condemnation of the institution itself that for some reason insists that there needs to be a #1, or a #2 or a #73.
May it fucking die and fade into obscurity along with DJ Mag itself.

I don't advertise my pearls of wisdom, I dispense them in carefully measured doses for the starving masses.

seriously if i ever became a big dj it wouldnt last long because i would have the most rediculous vip list and rider for my friends. yuris and andys alcohol needs alone would prevent me from ever being booked in chicago.

Yuris if you don't vote for him through the attitude you have, you are unintentionally impeding his chances for growth in the world of music we so love and cherish. And yes this world unfortunately includes candyland music and it undoubtedly includes a vast plethora of music and styles that you absolutely abhor. But nonetheless, it also includes genres that you quintessentially ensconce and also includes your friends such as Mr. Jarrell. That being said, I please urge you to abandon your negativities and vote with confidence in the direction that I know you already have within you. May the force be with you, Yuris.
Your friend, srika.
