Need Help: Dead rising

anyone have this game? Iam really confused about the save feature. Basically iam on 72hour mode. and throughout my game i will save during different ponts. but when i die i save an quit but i always start at the begining. is there a way to save the game somewhere and then continue from that point. if anyone can help me out that would be great. i havent opened up any new modes yet.

i jsut save in the back room and always get started there it only restarts me when i die.. this game is aweome btw gets kinda tough and and a little time to get used too..
