Dancing Dude Review: Lee Burridge and the Vanguard

really tired right now so more to come later. Lee was an animal last night as expected. the facelift for the vanguard made it better than ever. the fucking function one was like a total eargasm and has to be the best sound in LA. Perfect sounds all night long. the crowd was way too "LA" for my taste, i mean worse than avalon but it's all good. lots of TA's to surround yourself with.

the outdoor patio has to be the most beautiful part of it with cabanas and tons of seating and torches and plants everywhere. you guys are gonna be in for a major treat for PVD.

girls beware::::: tons of leachy guys totally on the prowl like wolves! thank God for the best booty guard out there Simon! and randy even made it out. woohoo!

tigo had a blast for his birthday. very nice to celebrate with you man.

Lee jumped into the crowd and walked around and took pics and talked to people and hugged people during his second to last track. he is way cool and so funny and nice.

track of the night was right at 3:10 am, had sick male vocals, almost scary and the bass line exploded and sent chills through your very core. everyone was going crazy, you couldn't help but dance! dont' know the name so if anyone can please help me out with that one. thanks.

great seeing all the TA's there: greg (gpc), leah, simon, randy(arfboy) mo_n_japan, tigo, PIG, karenluvstoparty, and shit i know there are more but things escape me at the moment. good times, good times.

oh, i wore my "it ain't gonna lick itself" wife beater and lee saw it and went crazy, he started jumping up and down and laughing and pointing to it and then gave me a thumbs up.

yah good times....honestly ive heard the Funktion soundsystem while it was a hiphop night at Vanguard, and i knew that there was no way it was better than the Avalon soundsystem...But after last night comparing EDM2EDM sounds (after seeing LEE @ both Avalon and Vanguard) i have come 2 the conclusion that the sound @ Avalon prevails...Besides the sound, Avalon has this smutty feel to it the 2nd u walk in....i mean dark and filthy, which is what im used 2 ....Vanguard is a mixture of Spundae and Avalon in my belief....I must agree with Sarah, the club is a little 2 Hollywood, but the girl 2 guy ratio last night was like 1:3.....pretty bad......the patio has a disgusting setup, beautiful seating, bar area, lighting, just wonderful....also NO WASHERS......yet...........im guessing within the next few months tho that place will be Maytag city....

but enough of secondary circumstances and back 2 LEE BURRIDGE.....insane night of music.....honestly though i think he was playing way 2 hard in the begining ......i mean personally i loved the set, but i wish he had saved that heat for the last couple hours....Towards 2:30 ish he got a little loungy and soft proggy, which was kool but kinda killed me for a little bit.....i mean regardless he was droppping mad music.....

in conclusion you take the Vanguard lights and patio and washer free crowd, combine it with Avalons smutty dark filthy vibe and sound , and i think we have a recipe for madnessss........nice seeing my fellow TAs out and yah that just about concludes my review....good times- watchout for PVD....PIG

Are ear plugs needed or it depends? Last time I was there (yes after the remodeling) I couldn't enjoy the music or even stay inside due to the pain my inner ears were feeling.
I want to be prepared this time.

That's a fake quote! I deny ever saying that.

Thank you Giant for moving to the Vanguard. The Vanguard is so much more appealing than Avalon. I haven't heard the Funktion One in action since Sasha at Ice last year. Forgot how damn good it sounds.

Lee kicked ass. I love watching him spin. He has so much postive energty up there I just can't help but feel it. I do have to say that Avalon does have more bass which I think Lee's music benifits from. Giant did a good job. Even had dancers or whatever you call them swinging from the ceiling. Great lighting, sweet patio (I had never scene it before), and no washers. The crowd was a little LA but I can handle it. TONS of guys on the prowl though.

I thought moving to The Vanguard would take care of that

hopefully in a few weeks that will kinda take care of itself. ya know, new night, updated club, "LA" types wanna see what it's about and then hopefully they will find somewhere else to go. or atleast get into the music and not just stand around
