quote:
I wanted to Apologize to Everyone who was @ Crobar Sat night . The
NYPD is really messing with Crobar. It is beyond Crobar's Control, as
well as mine.
There is nothing more I love then playing for my Fans and they are
making it more and more difficult to do so.
I intend to ride this out with Everyone hoping we will be back to
normal. So please be patient and hopefully it will all blow over and
we can continue to do what we do best enjoy our Great nights together.
I also am doing my best To coordinate a FREE Party or something along
the lines that will give back to You guys, " The FANS" please stay
tuned for more info.
Thanks again for your understanding
See you on the Dance Floor
Boris

I am pretty sure he was not intending it that way...and besides 9/11 (nypd) and Crobar (nypd) shit has nothing to do with one another....and on top of that, he is issuing a statement based on his concerns for his fans..... seems like a pretty considerate thing to me...

As much as I know people are going to take this the wrong way, I'm glad someone is reporting "new" news from this weekend. It happened this weekend, people were pissed, as evidenced by pyro264jb's comment in the Liquor License thread, and people wanted to know why it happened. I think it's a professionally responsible thing to do.

By the way, the other release I saw was longer than this and I think was from a manager-type and sounded better. It talked about him not being back to Crobar until Halloween and hopefully by then things being sorted out.

They actually did the same exact thing to spirit around 1 am. Saw a battalion of police blocking the corner of 10th ave and spirit. They basically had big movie lights shining down the street and were clearing people out of there.

At 430 they basically booted everyone out of crobar. From what my friends told me crobar was shut down at 5 am the night before. After Crobar was shut down I wandered around the city for about an hour (grabbed some grub and what not). When I walked up 10th ave to my car the whole entire block was a ghoast town. Not a single car person or police vehicle. I believe that Crobar and spirit are the only two clubs allowed to stay open past 5 am so this may not factor into what I saw earlier in the evening.

Ps. Im happy the police are shaking shit up down there. If clubs can be responsible and handle there buisness then thank god we have somone else who can step in to do so if need be.

im not, i think this whole ordeal is ridiculous and unecessary! soon there gonna shut down every single club in the city, im real surprised no one is speaking out about this, i mean on every corners of the world you will have things like this happen and you don't see the cops being so anal about it...

There was an 18 year old girl from Jersey who went to a bar across the street from Spirit called "Guest House." After she left Guest house with a friend they found their car had been towed. They went to the impound (not sure where it is) and got separated. That was the last time people saw her alive. She was found dead in a dumpster. Ever since then, the police have been shining down movie lights on the street where spirit and guest house are and even shutting spirit down, and looking for reasons to shut down crobar. IMO her death didnt have much to do with crobar or spirit or the crowds that go to party there but they are the ones who are getting cracked down on.

This incident has been discussed to death on here.

thats correct

just trying to point out that maybe the crackdown is still going on from this incident and that spirit and crobar imo aren't the ones responsible at all for the incident in the first place

But they're easy scapegoats.

She was drinking underage inside of Guesthouse, and so was her friend. If a person under the age of 21 drinks at a bar gets in a car and dies the bartender is responsible. Now if the establishment has a doorman checking id's things get complicated. Most of the blame ends up on the shoulders of the owner and some of the blame is placed on the door person. That night there was a doorman checking ids. For the police to put a focus this establishment is not wrong whatsoever.

Anyone who as been in that area of midtown within the last 5 months knows that it has all gone to shit. Too many kids are running around without diapers. They have no clue how to handle themselves and are all breaking the law.

Piet dont worry they will never shut down all the clubs in NYC or close them before 4 am. When there are dollars to be made someone steps up and will fight this in vein. But the mayor of ny wants to put the clubs on notice that if they dont start taking care of there shit the police will make there lives a living hell. Which would lead to major losses of revenue.

Rewind 5 years ago when the same shit was going down at the tunnel. At that time I felt that the tunnel was doing a great job. They even had a livery service that would take people straight to the hospital. Now that I have learned more about the situation I feel that twilo really did to little to late. They lost site of what mattered most (reality) and just focused on continuing the best party in the world at no cost. If they had been on top of their game and not held people in that OD room we may have had twilo here today.

all the other clubs on 27th and 28th are so easy to get in with ID.... literally hundreds of girls can get into ne of those spots if theyre half pretty and dressed nicely.... Guest House, Cain, Quo, Marquee, Home, all of them are like that, and it seems like theyre the ones ruining it for all of us

My friends and I all got to Crobar about 4am and half hour later, as was already brought up, the NYPD rushed in and closed the club up. From one point of view it sucked that we had pay for only half hour, but from another point of view we were about ready to split anyway because the speakers on the second floor weren't working and a number of speakers weren't working on main floor either.

The funny part of that whole experience was the rage DJ Boris was in after the NYPD stopped the music. He was yelling, cursing everything and everybody loudly and just upset for the ruined evening.

PS. I need to somehow find out what is the situation toward Victor Calderone actually spinning at Crobar on Sunday morning, next week, like he normally does until 6pm or will that event actually get canceled?!? I been looking forward to this party close to a month now!

I'm sorry to say, but if she were 21 or 22, she'd probably have been killed as well were she in that place at that time.

I'm not even kidding, if I were Boris, I'd scream "fuck the police" into the mic and try to start a riot... but that's not the best idea, as you can get arrested for inciting a riot. Of course, I understand that it's NYPD's job to do what they do, it's just that I disagree with much of the violent mentality that was instilled in the department by the Giuliani administration. Perhaps there are better solutions to a few isolated murder cases than harassing clubbers and damaging the nightlife industry as a whole.
