I once had two guys try to sell me suits - yes - SUITS - out of the back of a sedan... The guy in the passenger seat was on about having to fly back to Italy and not wanting to pay more in baggage fees so he wanted to offload them before his flight that night. lollers.

Also had the speaker/van scam in the Square One lot and 2 weeks ago while driving along St Clair.

Product or Service Involved: DiVinci D-6 soundsystem

Yeah it's as if I knew it. I should have phoned my friend but man these men were good. I was like, well at least I've got something... they told me the same shit, it was worth like 3k even opened up the box and made me feel cheap by suggesting 200. They got 350 out of me and then we even went to the bank together! They played the how-come-you-dont-know-DiVinci stuff, its-from-california and shit. The only true thing they told me was certainly that they had just sold one to a guy in a brand new F-150 for like 800. I should have known when they just kept bragging me and trying to make me feel happy about this super deal. Anyway i just called the police, they filed stuff, nothing will ever happen there, unless I find them I guess. anyone has succeded at this?

Sam

Had both of those happen to me as well

It is funny as shit!

Even though "a fool and his money are soon parted" is very very true, preying on the gullibility of others is still a very rat thing to do. Your friend is an outstanding member of society, and should be rewarded with a generous beating.

Yes you are correct, but sometimes people have to do things in order to feed their families and selling speakers i whole lot better than dealing drugs or robbiing people at gun point. If someone tells you a pencil is worth $1,000 and you buy it that's your own fault. No body is making people do anything as it is the ACTUAL greed of the buy that comes into play.

First of all who the fuck buys things from a van, secondly with out testing it, and thirdly on the street. I feel that yes there are alot of victims in this situation but the reality is the greed from the buyer is the actual deal closer and nothing else.

Plus he actually gives it all to his EX wife who the real crook is!

actually its criminal to sell something with false pretences, don't try to justify it. w

Posted by Shafer8 on Sep-12-2006 05:06:

Ok you are correct but it still. I have actually been taken many times on different scams and at the end of it I always think and it always is clear at the end, it was my own stupidity that helped me get taken.

I do not think it is ok at all, but I certainly find it funny when everyone always blames the sales men and nobody really blames their own greed.

Think about it,

no, there is no "but still". stop trying to justify it.
back to your pencil situation. IF the seller told the complete truth about the product but sold it for $1000 while another seller did the same thing and sold the same pencil for $0.10, then yes, it is the buyer's stupidity. when the seller makes up all kinds of lies about the product to purposely MISLEAD the customer, it is wrong and illegal. dont try to make it seem like its okay to pull this scam.

Bottom line is that if it sounds too good to be true, it is. Keep that thought in your head, and you'll have more luck hanging on to your money.

my friend got the scammed with the speaker scam like 4 years ago...

we were young (16) and got approached by an older couple (40s) in a pick up truck, they told us a load of bullshit and my friend ended up gettin 4 speakers for 700$

they do work, but they are not the high quality product that they were protrayed to be

that is by far the stupidest thing i have ever herd, it is robbing people because your telling them what your selling is worth 10 times more then what your paying when it's worth ten times less this is why if any legit buissness does something like that you take them to the B.B.B

Posted by Shafer8 on Sep-12-2006 17:18:

I am not justifing anything. I do not agree with what is going on at all but I also think that everyone that gets taken should also look in the mirrior and blame them selves for buying shit from a van.

Bottom line how can you trust anyone selling anything from a van and think you are getting a deal, especially electronic equipment that you have no means of testing.

Call it how you want, i call it plain stupidity.
