Just heard late last night that Sultan's agreed to spin at Opera this Sunday (Sept 17th).

Personally he's one of my favorite producers at the moment with some tracks that are simply off the scale including the yet to be released track that when Deep Dish played it at Bal en Blanc they said "that's it .. this is the track of the night" (admittedly because they also want to sign it on their label .. lol .. but it really was a kickass track) .. I think it's temporarily called "Together we rise".

Apparently he's also got a couple other new tracks that are just as amazing. He's gotten so big over the last couple of years that he rarely gets the chance to play in Montreal anymore! His style is somehow simultaneously progresive and smooth at the same time. Here's a few notable tracks some of you might want to check out to get a bit of an idea of his style:

Sorry I haven't replied to those who've e-mailed me for guestlist .. have been a little caught up with the tragedy at Dawson (I will reply to all who have contacted me so far on Friday). I'm not really in much of a mood to run a contest at this point, so anyone who wants guestlist simply e-mail me by 8pm on Saturday (I might push back the deadline to Sunday afternoon if I can, so feel free to e-mail me after that time and I'll see what I can do). So as things stand, the following information replaces the contest:


Get guestlist for this Sunday night at Opera for Sultan and Martin Villeneuve (MV)!

I will confirm to all requests via e-mail and/or phone to let you know what name the guestlist is under (so be sure you give a valid e-mail AND phone number AND check your e-mail daily)!

To enter please send the following to my e-mail:

1- Your FULL NAME
2- Number of people including yourself (UP TO 4 people)
3- Your date of birth
4- Site (and username if you have one) where you hear of this.
5- A VALID E-mail address
6- A VALID PHONE NUMBER (just in case I can't contact you till the last minute, the type of phone the above number represents (home or cell or work) and the lastest time I can call the number.
- (optional) Additional contact info (e-mails or phone numbers .. if phone please include type and latest call time)
- (optional) Your favorite style of club music and favorite DJ (I might keep your name for future guest lists or more importantly to suggest to my contacts who to get for future events).

Additional important info:

- You are responsible to bring ID WITH the name that appears on the guest list.
- Guestlist ends as early as midnight .. arrive before 11:40pm.

- Please be accurate with the number of people in your group (e-mail me if there are any changes to your initial request).
- If you want to bring more than 4 people, please simply feel free to tell another person in your group to submit their own request.

Yups moevalith ... if you've ever read my interview with Tiesto, then you'll appreciate that even he admits that the best way to break into "world class DJ" is to produce your own tracks!

Anyhow .. on a more on topic note .. as of tonight (yes Bob Sinclar kicked butt .. and so did Max Graham for those who were asking in other threads) I do have a limited amount of guestlist availlable to those who are interested in coming Sunday night.

Please remember that Opera is a new and trendy club and that there is ZERO excuse for underdressing!

I have enough guestlist to ensure the first 10 plus at least another 2 each day until Sunday.

If you enter more than once you will be disqualified!

Also note that anyone in the club and/or club music industry is also welcome to mention their connection to the industry in their comments and I might award extra invitation(s). I know this post is a little long and slightly anal in nature ... but my sincere hope is actually to get everyone who contacts me to have access which is why I've made this post so long and detailed! Obviously since this is the first (of potentially many guestlist contests for various clubs/events) I have no clue how many people will contact me, which is why I've made this into a contest format. On Sunday afternoon at 6pm after the last daily drawings (which I will try to keep as fair as posible), if there are extra spots availlable, I will most likely give last minute contact preference to active members of the various forums I've posted this information in ... so do not be shy to post your opinions/comments on Sultan in this topic, as it might make the last minute difference if I see your name and would like to offer you an extra spot.

1- Charlie .. I'm sorry if it seems complicated ... if anything, the only reason I'm doing it this way is because I do not know how many people will respond to me. In theory I really hope to offer everyone here (and from my site) guestlist and do not forsee any problems giving guestlist to all unless I get an overwelming amount.

As for my "conditions" ... these are actually not Opera's conditions, they are my own (the deoderant was just a funny little joke as an extra to entertain those of you like yourself who read through everything .. lol). I'm imposing these criteria to make sure I don't end up with people in track pants or 100% guys. More importantly, I'm putting all that stuff upfront so that people who do not go out as often as people like you or me don't end up surprised when they get to the door in running shoes and go "but I'm on the guestlist .. it shouldn't matter what I wear" .. you and I might know that dresscode comes before guestlist, but from experience I know not everyone knows this and I don't want anyone to show up for nothing.

I was also a little tipsy from Bob Sinclar last night when I wrote all that .. and if you know my posts in my forum, then you'll know that I have a tendency to ramble on (particularly if I'm alcohalized .. lol) .. so YES if your group changes .. then I have no problem with you contacting me before 5pm sunday to change your +#.

I'm also doing this to help out ... not because I'm really involved at this point .. so I've just secured a minimum number of guestlist, but it might increase as I talk to my contact throughout the week.

I also really hate it when I arrange guestlist for people who don't show up, which is why I added that extra term.

In the end however ... anyone who thinks my terms are a little too rigid .. well .. lol .. than they are welcome to get on someone else's guestlist or to quite simply pay the $15-20 (I was told it will not be more than $20 but I will try to comfirm) that it IS WELL WORTH paying to get hear Sultan spin. Opera is the hottest club in town at the moment and in my opinion Sultan is an amazing world class DJ/producer, and as such I don't think my terms are too much to ask for in exchange for getting you and up to 3 friends in for free. (Remember that most contests only give you one or two passes anyhow .. I may have terms for more .. but at least I'm making it posible to add more .. I've limited the number at 4 people because that's the best number for keeping things fluid at the door .. if you're going to be more than 4, then please feel free to tell another person in your group contact me or add a name +# at the end of your e-mail and I'll do my best to have both groups on the list if I can)

2- Nope ... if you really want to be on the safe side, then get there before 11:30pm. The first Sunday was a madhouse for Max Graham, but it was also their first week-end and they were still gelling together the door staff and entrance flow ... It was a full house last night for Bob Sinclar and there really weren't any rediculously long waits that I saw and things were running much smoother and fluid than on the first week-end. Besides .. if you're getting in for free, then I don't think it's too much to ask for people to get there a bit earlier so that it helps them balance the load at the door.

3- Again .. for the number of guestlist I've mentioned for the contest part I will run it as fairly and evenly as posible (which if you ask anyone who's known me from the last 7-8 years of running HOM they will tell you that I'm probably too fair sometimes) .. obviously if I have a few EXTRA spaces left over, I don't see any reason why it's such a bad thing for me to distribute them to my friends or to any other group of my choosing ... AGAIN though .. it is my hope that I able to get everyone in the 3-4 forums I've chosen to have guestlist access for Sunday night ... but seeing as how I have no idea how many people will respond, I'm doing things this rather longer way just to ensure there are no disappointments.

4- I've been told they are actually renting one of those sniffing dogs from the airport to enforce that rule ... so I highly suggest some Old Spice or Right Guard! lol


5- Note that this is the first time of hopefully many that I'm organizing something like this. I'm doing it to benefit YOU (well all of you clubbers who care enough about the scene to be part of communities like this one), to benefit SULTAN (or any other DJ/artist in the future) and to benefit clubs and the Montreal club scene itself. Since this is the first time, I'm going a little blind here and have chosen to do things in more of a "better safe than sorry" sort of way .. I'll definitely learn a great deal from this experience and modify things as needed for any future events I might choose to take part in. So although you might think I take your comments negatively, I actually do appreciate them and have noted them for next time and I'm actually going to make a couple of changes to make things simpler now)!

Please do understand that in the end I really will do my best to get you all in .. but I just don't want to make any promises where I'm not at least 99% sure I can deliver.


ANYHOW ... with all that out of the way .. unless there's any new questions (in the case I didn't spell everything out completely enough already .. lol), then I'd rather let this thread continue as other threads/discussions on upcoming events and concentrate on Sultan's work and/or sets.

nah marcus he aint a colab on that track. but more info about the night sultan will be playing along side close and personal friend MV with a special guest VOcalist Zara where her appearance and vocal skills have found herself on many of sultans records this is surely going to be an great night, the last time the both of played together was stereo main room and they totaly riped it up

im gonna check this place out tonight

just got back! in all ur imaginations ( at least mine having not been to ibiza yet) this is what a club should look like! For me its either a club like this or after's not much in between. Opera is absolutly beautiful. When the 1st thread was started about this place, something about a "super club," well it definaltly is what I would have imagined a super club is and it lived up to, with the big execption of alomst half the crowd that looked like thy didnt know what they were doin there, but that was 11ish by 1-2 am shit was pumpin, via the tunes of sultan nd who ever the other was might have been martin, anyways thought id give my thoughts quick as io came home Krunk! Fuck i have class in a couple hours!
