Sean Tyas - Vancouver

Just saw it on his myspace, halloween at Dooms Night. Too bad its a rave

Posted by apri_peel on Sep-13-2006 06:16:

yea, that does really suck

im waiting to see who else they'll have on the bill this year
maybe it wont be so bad

Posted by DjCommisad on Sep-13-2006 06:57:

yeah sean was waiting for this to be confirmed before he announced it. sucks its at a rave, but at least there will be a larger audience. this guy's productions lately have been making me want to start spinning trance again.

Posted by AquaYak on Sep-13-2006 06:59:

um i dont know when raves stopped being fun... but beam is perfect for a rave, and not so great for a club. His sound is very anthemish.

Posted by christofa on Sep-13-2006 09:15:

I wouldn't mind hearing him at a rave, just not a vancouver one. His productions rocks.

Posted by LToy on Sep-13-2006 13:56:

Confused

So when will an announcement for Dooms Night be made? I know it's only mid-September, but I'm beginning to think it might not even happen.

Posted by apri_peel on Sep-13-2006 18:19:

it'll happen
no one else is putting on halloween massives anymore
easy money for promoters

for me personally, raves never been as fun as club events
but these particular promoters dont do latter
and no one else in this city would book sean tyas

Posted by Salem on Sep-13-2006 19:06:

its not cool to go to underground parties there anymore??

Posted by apri_peel on Sep-13-2006 23:35:

by no means are these parties underground

dooms night, in fact, has been advertised on top 40 radio for at least last two years

Not true!

Tyas is definitely someone I wanted to bring to Vancouver. No point in bringing him out for a club show at this point, nobody would support the night and the last thing you want is for a DJ to fly half way across the world to play a half empty club.

Good luck to Sean.. I'm sure he'll rock it, easily one of the hottest talents in trance today.

thats actually what i meant
there are people who would like to book people like sean tyas, but for reason we are all aware of wouldn't most likely do it

stupid trance haters who dont come to trance shows

Posted by DjCommisad on Sep-14-2006 01:34:

matter of 'image' and exposure apri. hehe. i know anyone i have brought that didn't know/like/know what to expect, to a electronic show, loved it. but its getting them there. a lot of people have the image its 'all techno' and 'all raver candy kids doing e' and so they have a personal image to uphold by not attending 'those kind of events'.

as i said before, about it sucking, i meant it like how danny said it. to book tyas to a club event and have it barely half full would suck. its happened to a lot of guys and they won't come back because of it, not because they hate the promoter or the city, but because its not worth flying all the way out to vancouver for an empty club, pay or no pay.

tyas is an awesome guy though.

But it is all that

+ Roid monkeys

+ hundreds of hurting goofs

+ 15 year old girls doing e for the first time

you're absolutely right there
i've got a friend who calls himself a closet trance fan
actually, a closet techno fan
he likes prog trance, matthew dekay style, but he calls it the bleepy techno
i've been trying to explain that to him that its trance for a good 5-6 years now
he refuses to stop using the word 'techno'
and sadly, this city is full of people with thick heads
whats even sadder, is that there's no convincing them
and that just blows donkeys

Posted by christofa on Sep-14-2006 03:49:

I think it all has to start with promoters. Also, I can't go that long without drinking. =/

matter of perspective and what we're exposed to, and what we choose to expose ourselves to. someone who listens to popular music of the christian augilera, britney spears persuasion, for example, might call me thick headed because i choose not to listen to that. hehe.

but yeah i've heard the stories about the 'raves' around here, even from yourself apri, and yeah tayfoon's right, a lot of these events live up to people's 'expectations' of the 'scene' and therefore feel justified in believing its ALL the same, that all events are the same and all the music is the same and not worth their time.

why would anyone enjoy seeing that?

Posted by christofa on Sep-18-2006 00:35:

obviously you haven't seen the Dateline "Predator" episodes.

"Did you really come here to have sex with a 13yo girl!?"
"We were just going to talk, I swear!"

"Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Lois where's my Batman cup?" (Peter Griffin voice)
Did anyone see who else is going to be at Dooms Night?

EDDIE HALLIWELL!!! Well that means I'm gonna have to make a pilgrimage over to the mainland. I've been dying to see Eddie play for the last couple of months. I hope he busts out some Trance Breaks!

Sean Tyeas, Eddie Halliwell, Scot Project .... this could be 1 of the best parties of the year. Don't let the fact that it's a rave ruin it for you.
