King The official Champions League 2006 thread

It's day 1 part 2...come on people where did all the soccer fans go???

Real Madrid and Man. U. are losing so far

One very fun game so far.
Man U scum 2-2 Celtic.

Defensive mistakes from both teams. One dodgy penalty awarded to Man U scum. One helluva freekick by Nakamura.

Should be interesting 2nd half. (On TSN right now)

OMG Solskjaer scored...SWEET!

Man U scum 3-2 Celtic

Good game. Rough spots defensively by both teams, but Celtic showed that they are no pushovers with some good creative plays.
But their defence is very shaky.

Arsenal 2 - 1 Hamburg

Arsenal Scorers - Gilberto, Rosicky ( 30 Yard bomb into top corner
Hamburg - Sombagno or something like that.

I'm happy.

As much as i am an arsenal fan, i don't think they will be a top contender this year. Rosicky saved them today, will do so in other games too, but they need Henry like Barca needs Ronaldinho.

Man U vs Celtic by far the most entertaining game today. Although the ref was favouring Man U, they did play well, shaky defence but one thing they do brilliant is move the ball up field. Scary to stop them at times.

Lyon (my prediction to win champions league for second str8 year, they should have won it last year if not that fluke at the end) showed pure class again, taking down Real Madrid for 2nd year in a row. These guys are good. Really good.

Go CSKA Moscow!!!!!!

Didn't see the dodgy penalty incident...

I hate acting.

That goes for you too Giggs!

Talking Pretty good game I must say!

YAY UNITED !!!

I'd have to say that im pretty happy that sporting lisbon took out intermilan. That group is a tough looking group and sporting just made it one step easier for them. Im also quite pleased that my personal favourite valencia pulled off a win. All in all though im just happy that its finally started again !!

holy shit finally someone on here who likes valencia!!

they've been my favourite team since the late 90's. 2 finals in 3 years...those were the years. but the release of Aimar was the worst thing they could do this year. he's one of the craftiest players around. good luck to him in zaragosa!

morientes seems to pick up, he's a great player, consistant scorer. the reason he did bad in liverpool is cuz under tight benitez rules he couldn't fit into his role plus spanish players dont usually shine in prem, totally different game than la liga or anything else.

villa and morientes should be a deadly combo up front. 4-2 over olympiakos and valencia is looking like the valencia that went to the champions league finals with claudio lopez. they are exciting to watch that's for sure!

that was such a brutal call!!!! Celtic deserved a tie at old trafford you can't argue that. giggs was subed off though after that play, i wonder whether it was an injury or fergie had that in mind. after all that substitution lead to the game winner essentially.

Never fear, Starsearcher my dear, for I am here!!!!!

the Pool 0-0 PSV.... only game watched so far, man I love those boys! Why leave my Stevie on the bench until the last 19 mins???

No predictions, I have learned my lesson! I am just going to hope that an English team wins (that obviously roles out Arsenal as they only have 2 English players )

Posted by English Rachel on Sep-14-2006 13:14:

And before anyone says anything, yes, I did see the 3-0... (not Champions league I know but before you start laying into me for loving the Pool)

I love the blues too actually and it is nice to see the underdogs take the win for a change (will always be a Manchester blue).

Last goal was hilarious...
