FREE christopher lawrence & dj irene, fri @ crobar

i'm pumped. its through myspace... you gotta go to crobar's page and send them a message with your guest list info and you're in totally comped, as long as ur there before 1.

go to my page @ www.myspace.com/pgom and crobar is on my friends list at the bottom

and i realize bradley rose setup a thread about this, however as it was for his guestlist i felt it would have been within poor taste to advertise someone else's in his post... before everyone flips out like ya'll do over things like this

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Sep-13-2006 23:08:

I have only heard Irene spin raves, and I'm not gonna lie, I always enjoyed her sets. She plays hard dance music...hard trance, hard house, some electro now I would assume.

yeah same here, good energetic stuff, and def. a better atmosphere then raves. i know she played avalon a couple times over the past couple years and i heard they were good nights, but i wouldn't go there for her i would go there for Christopher Lawrence, he's def. an underrated DJ and he will rock out crobar!

saw Irene at RA in Vegas back in 2001. Def didn't spin any rave crap but more def more hard stuff. Seemed pretty kool when she dropped Richie Santana's Trance Revoltuion; think i was the only in the place who knew the track

now there's a song from a while back. reminds me of my days in south jersey going to school and hitting up the clubs in philly (shampoo sunday nights) before i realized that NY was the place to go.

its weird how over here everyone is so apprehensive to use the word "rave." i understand what everyone means when they say rave versus "...whatever else you could call it..." but thats just the problem... i wouldn't know what else to refer to going to see any dj that spins electronic music, other than perhaps clubbing, which could mean a lot of different things as well. i've really only ever noticed this from people around here, as in europe and canada, anything involving electronic music is a rave event of sorts and it is not necessarily a bad thing to refer to it as so.

its all semantics. In this area, every event that is billed as a rave is very different from a regular club night. Rave's are not synonomous with club nights really...they usually have massive lienups with as many as like 30 djs, they generally attract a much much younger crowd, the music is usually much much harder, and there are more freaky people at raves. I'm not saying those are bad things, just very different from Crobar on a Friday night.

Posted by peace n trance on Sep-14-2006 21:21:

i realize the distinction, i just find it pecular that "rave" isn't more of a general term than it actually is here. i'm just saying the way i see it is that they are all raves really, just some with a bit more taste/sophistication. its not important really... just something i've picked up on

Posted by Stunade on Sep-15-2006 00:43:

Um anyway...rave or not, I don't feel right not paying for a ticket. Well, I of course bought mine anyway the SECOND I heard the great Christopher Lawrence shall grace us with his presence. You people don't have $20? How about sacrificing a beer or two? Anyway, I'll see all the usual dorks there, including myself.

why the fuck would i sacrifice a beer or two for a cover that doesn't need to be paid... lol i feel soooo bad robbing crobar of $20 when thats exactly what they do to me when i order a stoli & club

LOL nice contradiction there...if you feel they're "robbing" you, then don't buy it!!!!!

I'm just not one to get there before midnight. I like to be fashionably late

Posted by GUBostonDubs on Sep-15-2006 23:09:

Christopher Lawrence is awesome. He's the last of the trance djs I can really enjoy out at a club night these days

Do you really think Crobar cares whether you spend that $20 for cover or for drinks? They're getting your money either way.
