Holy Christ on a pogo stick. I wouldn't know where to start in that booth. Anyone wanna buy some Numark 1625s? I can use the money as a down payment on that booth, right? RIGHT?

Shouldn't vinyl rips be higher than 96k?

think he means 96k as in 96kHz sampling rate...i.e. normal CD quality is 16bit/44.1kHz. the next step up is usually 24bit/96kHz, which is similar to DVD quality sound.

Thanks for clearing that up, because I went when I read that.

Why does he suck? I've heard about this before but I have no idea why..is it his beatmixing, his track selection? What does he even play? I don't know that much about him...

He plays House music, in NYC's hottest venues. Unless you're a hater, he doesn't suck. Even though I don't prefer the type of music he plays, he's a great DJ/Producer/Remixer, overall.

Head a'plode! Sorry to say, but he's pretty horrible at everything he does.

Say this over on the NY forum and see how many agree with you.

And by NYC's hottest venues, do you mean the clubs that eventually close down because his fans turn them into drug dens. Hopefully Pacha avoids a similar fate, but his parties, while they do draw in tons of people paying $50, thus making a ton of money, are a serious liability for that club.

JP's music is auditory diarrhea - lame cheesy diva vocals and lame tribal tech nyc style garbage tracks, he's not great technically, and the crowd he brings in is worse = shitty dj. I dont care for his productions that I've heard either like "Going Thru IT" He has quite a following up here in Boston as well as NYC but I've given him 4 chances....no more. I went to see him those times after hearing about "how great he was" from NyC friends but he's a joke in my opinion..Gets way more attention than he deserves.

There is no point whatsoever of having that much equipment for simnply DJing house music.

Zabiela does 100,000x more creative stuff than JP ever has using 2 CDJs, a laptop and an EFX-1000.

Agreed. Some people think having all of this fancy spancy stuff will somehow make them cooler..better or whatever. I think as long as you have a good track selection, are decent technically, and know how to interact well with a crowd...you shouldn't need all of that. I bet in four years, most DJs will only be using laptops, as many are now. All this guy really needs is a laptop and serato or ableton and he's all set...like PvD or Sasha do. And they are much more respected DJs than this guy seems to be...but I haven't seen him/heard him so I have no idea...

Like I said, I never liked his music, but he's getting paid well for some reason. Perhaps, it's because the listeners have bad music in music? Now, that I'd agree with.

Anyone remember that story about Jonathan Peters passing out during one of his sets? I heard he was out for like an hour with the same track looping over and over

You'd need 8 people to use all that crap to half of its potential. Most of it is fucking useless.

lol

At Avalon he played the same loop from a track for 25 minutes.

Posted by bas on Sep-15-2006 00:07:

I can't get over this. I heard him last year in Miami and it was disgusting. Wasn't really doing anything innovative and certainly wasn't playing any good music. A bunch of classics interspersed with what sounded like "now that's what I call house 2005". It was labled "A Jon-a-thon". The whole group of people I went with got a big laugh out of that.

It wouldn't connect, so I googled his name to make sure the spelling was right. This is the 4th result, Interview with Jonathan Peters by Dave "the Wave" Dresden - http://dancemusic.about.com/cs/inte...tJonPetDave.htm
