Question so what's it like?

so let's get my first post out of the way with a question i've always
wanted to know the answer to (and hope it's the right forum )

seeing as I've been holding down this residency at Club Bedroom, entertaining myself and my poor girlfriend who has mastered the art of nodding and smiling politely, I always wonder -

what's it like to play infront of a real audience? where people actually hang on every beat and are actually listening to what your mixing.

I played infront of people, but that was at a company function where I count it as "same as at home, just louder" but no real audience. but atleast it made for an interesting first "performance" story

*phew* first post out of the way

Well at first you are a little/much/deadly (scrap whatever you want)nervous, but the adrenaline rush really gives a great feeling, you'll do stuff with your music you never thought possible. And then when you see the crowd jump to the music you play... It's undescribable, I have yet to find something that has greater impact than that.

does high school audience count?

First time was amazing... I was jumpin up and down with everyone, and was sweating like crazy. One of the funnest times i've ever had.

Second time I graduated from highschool, so I was kinda fed up with the bratty highschool kids tellling me "if you play trance, no one's gonna dance"... I just smiled and nodded, and let the music do the work.

Hoping to start spinning at raves/clubs soon...

If high school count, them ive played to well over 10 000 people already...if not, im down to close to 100

its a great feeling when theres a break, and the crowd just screams without provocation...or they start a clap...you know, like you would if you were in the crowd..can you say warm tingly feeling?

kinda nerve-wracking until u actually get up there.. i hate waiting.. waiting sucks! i get to anxious..

OK, so just imagining some of the things listed here gives me tinglies. Doing some "tricks" with WinAmp and having the visualizers on the wall (Via a projector) makes me giddy.

(BTW: the trick with winamp for those who don't know: Plug in an output of your mixer into the line in on your sound card, hit Ctrl-L in Winmap, type in linein:// hit OK, than press play, and start a visualizer. Certainly makes things more entertaining. And if you have a good projector - ghetto club lights in your bedroom)

ANYWAY, so playing infront of a real live audience at some point in time is going to what, give me an orgasm?

it's a pretty amazing feeling... my first public party was about 200 people and it was awesome! at first i wasn't too nervous (thanks to a couple of beers) but once i was up there... my hands were shaking so much i could hardly put the needle down... and there were other more established djs there and that just made things worse thinking that they were listening and picking apart every mix i did, but i pulled off my first 2 mixes without anything going wrong and all the nervousness went away and was replaced by adrenaline

For me, I was afraid only till I fucked up for the first time... After that I didn't give a shit about anything else but the music and the crowd.

And the experience is amazing. It's one of the better things in the world. People tearing their shirts off, jumping like crazy, clapping their hands for you... totally undescribable. I wonder, how it's like to perform at Innercity or Trance Energy - that's the real energy rush!!!!
