So whats the Best sushi place in Houston?

Posted by Frisco on Sep-18-2006 19:39:

I've been to 713, Uptown Sushi, and Azuma (i think that's how it spelled) and Uptown has the nicest atmosphere but I think Azuma has better sushi. Didn't really care for 713 at all

Damn, I should've started this thread a couple of weeks before we were in Houston. We were looking for a decent sushi place but failed.

As far as sushi here in San Antonio, the best compromise between value and quality that I have come across remains Goro's Sushi on Vance Jackson and 410.

Even though Goro himself (fuck he makes some good sushi...) has since left to start his own place called Godai Sushi Bar which is on West Avenue. Godai is a little pricier and the last time I went I guess they were still going through getting used to the new location, so it wasn't as nice as they were making it out to be.

I'm still yet to go to Sushi Zushi as I hear it's pretty pricey also, and don't really want to become addicted :/

KarateKid

el mejor sushi en Houston es Nippon.

yo y la mayoria de Japoneses que viven en Houston te lo recomiendan.
enserio vale, VE!!!!!!!!
it's authentic japanese as it gets in Houston.
i know cause i checked in the kitchen and my uncle Chepo wasn't cooking.
even the rest of the staff is Japanese.

713 did not impress me as well.....took my sister there for her birthday and well, the fake crab stuff at HEB is better,

if ya in Austin, Uchi is really good, but over priced and always packed. If ya want to stay around 6th and all the action; silouet(sp?) is really good and very laid back plus the prices are decent. About 40-80 bucks for a party of 2, depending if you drink wine or saki... Then there is Kyoto above the elephant room. get there between 6 -6:45 and its 1/2 price sushi.... but its a college kid's hangout at that time. and you have to have complete parties to start.

The best place for sushi that I've been too is off of the loop by the Horse Track (i think that would be northwest?). Anyways it's fairly new. My stepdad is the Exec. Chef at Cheesecake Factory, so he is constantly getting emails and letters in the mail: "Come try my new place, Come join me for my grand opening, etc...) basically just a buncha horseshit. Well we finally decided to pull one of these things out of the trash. There's a place in a small new plaza (where NewQuest and RoyceHomes Architects Inc. just opened up two bad ass structures) by the name of "Todai . Some say it is overpriced, but really for what you get and how much of it you get, to me sounds like a pretty decent deal. It was $90 for Ivonne (my mommy), Martin, and I.

no prob bra! like i said, my stepdad's an executive chef, and i get sick and tired of listening to him rad on about new restaurants, cafes, blah blah. Everytime I go to my moms house in the woodlands, its the same shit. I hear screams like if someone had won the lottery or something. Its actually him, jumping up and down because some friend of his opened up a restaurant. lol. Ive gotten to the point where I hate food only when im around him.

Gotta side with the Aussies this time; sushi is some divine grub.

Sushi in Houston

#1 IMHO http://www.teppay.com/

Amazing place / food / people watch the real deal prepare your feast in beautiful SW Houston.

#2 IMHO http://www.kubos-sushi.com/contents/main_aboutus.htm,

Trained @ Teppay, mid-town kind of place, a little more trendy with some of the real thrown at you for kicks.
