i think the leafs if lucky will get 8th spot and get relegated in the first round. buffalo on the other hand, well they are my early prediction for the cup this year.
btw anyone down for road trip leafs vs sabres in buffalo this november??

You need a goalie to make the playoffs let alone win a series.

I dunno. I rate Raycroft.
Yeah he had a rough sophomore season but he's young and he still can improve a lot.
Maybe not this year but in the future...
we say it every year cuz we have faith that one day in our life time the leafs will win the cup once ..... is that so much to ask
It's safe to say they will win the cup again.
Just not this year.

I was at the game last night. Gfs mom's company has season tickets so I got to go.
Leafs played horribly out there. They were slow, defence was horrible, don't think they got a PP shot on net, they had way to many penalties! They were 5-on-3 like 2 or 3 times in the game. They also got a 5 minute major in there somewhere as well.
Now I absolutely am not a fan of Raycroft one bit...never have been, but I have to say, that he was probably the best player on the ice. Out of the 4 goals (at least 3 were on the powerplay), none were his fault. Defence was hooooorrrible, with a capital R! I was actaully impressed w/ Raycroft. I can see him being a great goalie (Stanley Cup caliber? don't know about that)...
But Maurice has A LOT of work to do w/ the team. Eventhough it's the first pre-season game, Buffalo was way ahead of Toronto. We need some speed! okay...i'm done.
I still have faith...I just want playoffs!

Its only the first game.
Really, i knew they would get whipped out there last night. You have the Sabres, a team that has been bred for the new NHL, a team that has had their system down cold for over a year now, playing against a leaf team that has a new coach, hasnt worked on much in terms of PK, PP, 5 on 5 strategy, etc. Heck, the coach still doesnt even know line combos.
I think the last 2 or 3 games of the preseason will say more about the leafs. Actually, it will take them a good part of the regular season to get where they need to be as a team.
