I've been there twice, and honestly, I'd much rather see any DJ at Vision or Spy Bar in Chicago than at half the clubs in Miami.

In my experience, WMC just has very, very little to do with music. It just embodied almost everything I personally don't like about the "club scene."

More power to the people who love it though, it just wasn't for me.

people either love it or hate it

1. get a good hotel, with NOT alot of people
2. get it close to 15th and collins
3. have a credit card ready
4. sneak in your own alcohol

Yeah, we were pretty much all good on those, but at the end of the day I just don't party in the same fashion that it takes to survive in Miami... And for the most part, the sets we saw were exceptionally lackluster (which makes sense, given that it seems to most DJ's WMC is not serious work at all, but rather they're vacation/opportunity to get utterly faded in the sun). At the end of the day, it was just a drastically different experience than I expected, which I don't think can be qualified across the board as "good" or "bad."

Honestly, when it comes down to it, I just thought that it was all a bit excessive for my tastes, but again, that's just Rob Turner from Appleton, Wisconsin talking...

you have to understand that club life is all smoke and mirrors
this is especially the case in miami

everyone thats ever seen me out knows i dress like a slob and act like one too. i snuck in to the shore club last year with shorts, a cubs shirt, and a backwards cap and stuck out like a sore thumb. you just cant let it bother you. miami is just mind over matter. if you can tune it out, you will have SO much fun.

Posted by Geo34 on Sep-19-2006 19:29:

nobody looks good at 7am downtown miami either.... LOVE IT

I definitely agree man - I guess in a lot of ways I'm still just a naive, bright eyed, "I'm just here for the tunes" kind of kid who unfairly places similar expectations on others.

I've still got a lot to learn & a lot of figuring out with regard to "mind over matter"

the basic principle behind all clubs is social interaction, not music. its a place to see and be seen. places like spybar, smartbar, and vision get the bigger picture and make sure there is room for everyone, even the music nerds like you and I (sometimes smartbar is a little too nerdy and it just transcends into snobbyness). not everyone feels this way though, and the guidos might push you around, but you just have to remember, they are impotent from doing stacks of deca (steroids) and you can make babies!

music nerds ftw
