Sean Cusick?
Does he have a regular gig in New York? If so, where? If not, does he play out every few months & where can I find out about these gigs?
I'm planning a trip up to NY sometime this fall & seeing Cusick would be an added bonus.
Thanks!

Wasn't he the guy who had to stall Armin's show cuz Armin got to spirit late? Alot of people didn't like that set at all.

Yeah, he's also the guy who was a regular spinning at Twilo (as a resident there) and Arc opening for the likes of Sasha and Digweed and has put out some really cool tracks/remixes. I wasn't there that night at Spirit but Cusick also opened for Armin At Roxy back in April of 2004 and did a great job. I wouldn't be surprised if alot of Armin fans couldnt handle that kind of music though at Spirit. He plays alot of crazy and sometimes weird tracks that can alienate the mainstream loving crowd. I think he and Jimmy Van M opened for Sasha back on NYE 2004 at avalon NYC. His track "Of Course" was on Digweed's MMII cd. In general he plays enjoyable and unique tracks Imo. His remix under the Freelance Icebreakers Alias with JVM of Bedrock "Voices" which was on S+D - Communicate still is one of my favorite classics.

Exactly...which is why I'd like to catch a proper set of his in the near future. His latest Kiss mix was very journeyful...

No, it wasn't that, he just sucked that night. While I only saw the end of his set when he opened for Digweed @ Spirit last September, it was better than when he'd played in June before Armin.

hahah ditto. Minneec and I emailed back and forth with him when he was still doing that column about how the scene in NYC changed. He didn't have faith anymore and we suggested he check out Arc... so much for that
Another time we saw him was at Canal Room for Sasha's Involver release party. He didn't spin, but I like to think he was really trashed b/c he was supremely annoying and distracting behind Sahsa.

actually, he DID spin. he opened up for sasha. when sasha got on, he was pretty wasted and was acting a fool. hes a funny dude.
to the threadstarter, his bookings are handled by the collective agency. check www.tca-web.com for more info.

Ah, I missed that! Got there a little late b/c I had taken a nap after work and when I woke up had 5 vmails screaming "Where are you?!?" "Sasha release party!!"
Yeah, Q6 is goofy. How was he opening?

he was actually pretty good. no big tracks obciously, but really deep and techy sounds he brought to the tables.

My point was that he is not the ideal opener for someone like Armin with the style of music that he plays. He is a much better fit for someone like digweed obviously

cusick is a fav of mine. He lives in the east village and used to play almost weekly at filter 14 before it closes. I used to hear him and fortier a lot in FL as they are both from FL.
