airplane carry on info

im flying tomorrow and i know that the carry on stuff has been all crazy, does anyone know what is and is not allowed? can i bring my laptop or a carry on bag?

i am bringing all my camera shit and its too expensive to go through bag check so if it has to i will prob leave it home because last time i checked it, 2 lenses got broken.

so who has flown recently? what is and is not allowed

over here most of it is relaxed to "anything but liquids"

just so you know, the TSA have no bearing on what can be taken on board a flight departing anywhere but the US - bear that in mind for your return.

I flew back from the states just after the london attemted liquid bombing, so I brought a new case as I thought nothing was allowed to be carried on (like in the UK at the time) turned out that the tsa didn't care as much about security as the UK people did.

Yes I realize the rules changes depending on your location.
And secondly I don't think there ever were any carry on restrictions ... after the Gatwick attack drama came out there were so many rumours of restricted items but most of the things people said were still allowed.

Following this morning's police operation, the Department for Transport has asked all UK airports to apply additional security measures designed to ensure passenger safety.

Hand baggage restrictions:
These measures will prevent passengers from carrying hand luggage into the cabin of an aircraft with the following excepts (which must be placed in a plastic bag):
# pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags));
# travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);
# prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.
# spectacles and sunglasses, without cases.
# contact lens holders, without bottles of solution.
# for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and
# sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags).female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes).
# tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs
# keys (but no electrical key fobs)
# All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be x-ray screened. Any liquids discovered must be removed from the passenger.

Pushchairs and walking aids must be x-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point. In addition to the above, all passengers boarding flights to the USA and all the items they are carrying, including those acquired after the central screening point, must be subjected to secondary search at the boarding gate. Any liquids discovered must be removed from the passenger.

The federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has implemented new security procedures at all US airports, including Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia.
IT IS PROHIBITED TO CARRY ONTO AIRCRAFT LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY TYPE. These items must be in checked baggage. Prohibited Items include: beverages (including water bottles), suntan lotions, shampoo, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and similar items.
Passengers traveling with babies are permitted to bring baby formula. Prescription medication is permitted provided that the name on the prescription label matches the name of the ticketed traveler. Baby formula and medication will be inspected at checkpoints.
Additional items may be prohibited by individual airlines or on flights to and from certain airports. Travelers should arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flights. In some cases, allowing additional time may be advisable. We recommend that you call your airlines and/or check the airlines' website for the latest information before traveling to the airport.

for about 4 days departing from UK airports, you were not allowed to carry -=anything=- on.

this was a good thing in my huimble, too many people take full sized cases into the cabin.

hum yeah after rereading the old stuff it appears only the UK had the carry-on luggage restrictions.

so in the uk, no laptops, no bags, just your wallet and travel documents. (for those few days..)

i flew out of a uk airport two days ago, my dad got his backpack on the airplane. only thing we couldnt take on was lighters and liquids.. but my gigantic belt buckle that couldve been used for strangling or punching someone with was ok..

That list was back in august right after the situation. I sure hope the rules are much more relaxed now!

they (the uk gov+the ppl at the airport) say there have been no changes, but we didnt have to put our shit in plastic bags and shit... thing that sucked the most was that some little gay wad frisked me when i went thru the security.. and like after the 3 people behind me in line, he went on break and some super hot chick started feeling up the passengers instead.. i knew i shouldve waited a little bit before going thru security

they don't allow any gel so don't put any in your hair or you will be forced to cut all your hair off before you board.
