Tiësto shows cancelled due to health

so........

quote:
On Tuesday, September 19th, Tiësto complained of chest pains and shortness of breath. As a result, he was hospitalized in the Netherlands for medical testing. Early indications are that he is suffering from a condition known as 'pericarditus.' The doctors are confident that he will make a complete recovery through the use of medication and rest.

At this date it is uncertain as to how long it will take for Tiësto to recuperate. He will be kept at the hospital for a couple of days for further testing and rest. Aside from the pain in his chest he is feeling fine and is fully confident that he will be back to work soon.

For the reasons explained, Prime Time Management BV has been forced to cancel Tiësto's North-American shows scheduled to take place this coming weekend. Management hopes to be able to provide further information as it comes available regarding Tiësto's anticipated recovery period and the status of other upcoming performances.

Whether you like tiesto or not, you should respect that he ruins his immune system and runs himself into the ground to entertain his fans. Yeah, he gets a lot of money but his hours are crazy and I am sure changing time zones every week doesn't help much.

It's one thing criticizing his music, it's another just flaming him for getting sick. It's in bad taste.

I hope you get well soon Tijs.

As far as my knowledge goes, tiesto missing/canceling a show for any reason is rare. Does anyone know how many times in the past tiesto has missed/canceled a show?

that sucks, but i'm not surprised... djs have incredibly demanding schedules that are taxing both on the mind and body... just hope he has a quick recovery.... sometimes it's smart to listen to our bodies and chill for a while!

i forgot to mention this is exactly what I had not too long ago that the stupid doctors here at my hospital were not able to diagnose until later.

i was sitting in a meeting at work and my arm/shoulder started a pinching pain, then the pinching moved to my chest. with any activity, like walking, i would feel a pinch/pressure in the chest. that night, me and my girlfriend knew for certain something was not right because when we layed down together in bed, laying on my left side, my heart would be thumping so loud she could actually hear it laying next to me! it would thump so heavily, that she could feel the vibrations my chest would make transmitted into the matress. it would only do this laying on my left side because thats where everyone's PMI (point of maximum impluse/impression) is. it had a gurgly liquid sound to it also.

this happened after a marathon weekend where i didn't sleep from friday to monday and did a bunch of coke and ghb. its caused by overworking yourself/sleep deprivation/stress. took me about a week to fully recover back to normal.

Sounds rather serious. Hope all works out well and Tijs gets well soon. I don't think I could lead such a demanding road life. I despise travel. With a fiery hate.

He actually cancelled his only Ibiza date only to make a surprise set the Saturday after I left the island.

Get well soon...

He also smokes and is around a lot of smoking in clubs, so that may have something to do with this as well. I hope he doesn't get emphysema or lung or throat cancer...

Ok, this is serious for a change. Hope he recovers soon.

This is what you guys get for toying with fate.

A few gigs spring to mind:

- 12/08/06 - technically this isnt a cancellation. His management was planning 1 date in Cream this year cos he didn't want to be flying around so much, only to find out it was the same weekend he'd be asked to open D4L in Toronto, Canada. He chose D4L.

- Pantakilidio Beach or something Philipines - monsoon season

- 25-06-05 HMH - got changed to Versuz, Hasselt, can't remember reason - think the HMH was already booked by something else

- TIC USA events 2005 - natural disasters

- Crobar Beinos Aires 2005 - Argentina had crazy period without parties or something, cancelled this gig till the end of last year.

- Nijmegsedriedaagsefeest 2003 - unsafe location to hold event

- Beachpop 2002 - sickness

- All gigs September/October 2001 - 9/11 and no fly zones etc.

Of all the DVDs and video clips I have seen, only ONE short segment showed Tijs smoking. I found it amazing that in neither of the 3+ hr DVDs of his concerts does one notice him smoking.

Did they pick segments that purposefully did NOT show him smoking? I'm at a loss and completely off topic here.

He quit during 2001.

He has occasional respites (although these are not during his shows - how retarded would that be... a role model that breaks his own code of conduct).

August 2004, Cream Ibiza, Ear Infection.
After paying 50 euros to get in, there was inside a sign saying he wasn't able to play. Luckily enough PVD would play a extended set which was absolutely mindblowing

Ah well, hope he will get better soon.

Well he was smoking when I saw him two years ago. I mean maybe he has quit or doesn't smoke as much, but a lot of these DJs are exposed to a lot of second-hand smoke in clubs. Just thought that it might be a factor, but it probably isn't...just thought that i'de raise it.
