Orbital - halcyon & on & on

For trancers:

What do you think about this song?
I think is better than other orbital tracks like Tunnel trance and others..
I think is the best orbital work...

Posted by StanVoid on Sep-21-2006 14:24:

best orbital track, no doubt. It's a timeless classic, one of the tracks that got me into trance in general. When that bass kicks in with the chopped up vocals in the beginning, man i melt.

eeh neee - la da da da da

Housers and Techers aren't allowed to answer?

I doubt this would even make it into my top 10 favourite Orbital productions list, should I ever be arsed to make such a list. They have so much more to offer than Halycon & On & On.

Oh sorry, 'trancers' only.

One of the First to get me into EDM, I heard it when 'Hackers' came out and dug around the internet for similar sounding tracks and found this site...

Hackers came out in 94. This site roughly 2000. You just registered this year.

Someone's telling porkies.

Posted by Allied Nations on Sep-21-2006 15:46:

And the fact the internet wasn't really very popular at all until 96/97 at the earliest doesn't help his point either.

Orbital

Great track, I remember first hearing it as the closing song at the end of the first Mortal Kombat movie. Kirsty Hawkshaw has fine vocals, but quick question if anyone can answer this howcome Bon Jovi and Belinda Carlisle kick in towards the end of the track? Does anyone know?

Uh... what?

I have heard a version of the track that had vocals towards the end of the track from Bon Jovi and Belinda Carlisle. I am sure someone else aside from myself has heard of this version of the track.

I know what you're talking about. It's usually done when Orbital plays live. They did a Halcyon & On/Shot Through The Heart/Heaven Is a Place On Earth thing. If that's the version you have it's probably taken from one of their live sets.

Thumbs down

Never liked it.

Well, I guess how you'll rate Orbital productions is what style of EDM you like. I mean, Orbital did so much stuff over various genres. Their acid stuff is pretty damn cool.

But yeah. Halcyon+on+on is one of my favourites too.

Did anybody else nearly die when they dropped this track at the end of Mean Girls?

My girlfriend made me watch that movie, and when I was just about to walk away I heard the song and it made me forget about the terrible movie that I had just watched.

One of my alltime favs and the first track to get me interested in EDM thanks to the Hackers soundtrack

They had an electroey-breaks mix they are working on in their myspace at one point
