Coffee.
I am a coffee snob. I love the stuff, love coffeeshops, love learning about new kinds of coffee (also, I love lamp.). My honest to God dream career would be to own a coffeeshop, and not just of the Dutch variety, but just a shop in general that could be a cool kind of lounge where I could spin records/have live music, etc.
But I digress... Are there any other coffee snobs out there? What are your favorite brews?
I'm a HUGE fan of Sumatran coffee's, they're usually moderately dark, a little bit more oily, and have a very "nutty" kind of finish to them. Equal Exchange and Alterra have Sumatran blends I thoroughly enjoy - But at the moment I'm drinking a Mexican blend from Alterra that is about as dark and muddy as a cup of coffee can get - You could stand a spoon up in it; I love it!
So yeah... Coffee for the win, this is it's "Appreciation Thread."
My family owns coffee plantations in El Salvador. As for the drink, i recently became fond of it when i noticed how often i was falling asleep in classes.
I put milk and sugar in my coffee, and I eat some toasted bread with it.

when I used to drink caffiene, for me it was "I like my sugar with coffee and cream".
coffee is nasty. tea ftw.
I'm just starting to try different kinds of tea and coffee. I'm usually a juice, water and occasional-drink kind of person.
Tea: So far, Camomile, Green tea, and Earl Grey.
Coffee. Latte, Mochacino, Frappe, and one I didn't like was Corretto with a sambuka shot. Errgh!
If I ever become a coffeeholic, I'll blame the Crane Brothers.
i often have a superstrength (3 spoonfuls of coffee, sachet of cappichino, 4 sugars and 1/4 milk) cup of coffee if i have to be awake and alert in the early mornings.
tastes like shit, but once the buzz kicks in, its fine.
My dad was the CEO of Austin Chase Coffee here in Seattle before he sold it to Torrefazione Italia. If I wasn't a coffee snob before that I certainly was afterward. We had all the machines baristas use at our house. ![]()

Mr. Coffee
Morning has broken
MR. Coffee has spoken
The familiar wake-up call
sings to my ears
I wake with a shrug
To the floor with a thud
Where in this hellhole is my coffee mug?
I can now face the day
on legal speed (The American way)
I'm sketching
I'm seizing
I'm spazing
I'm shaking
I can not stop spilling on my brand new shirt
I-I-I'm wired
I'm so inspired
I drank the entire pot
so off to work
Here I come to save the day
on legal speed (The American way)
Drinking coffee
I drink coffee
Drinking coffee everyday

One of the funnest gigs I ever played was an impromptu sunday night session at my freinds coffeshop in Peru. A couple of months ago when I was in Lima, my buddy offered me and my friend a set at the shop, there was a band playing that night and we were to go on after the band. We had to bring all our own gear and cables etc, but basically, as soon as the band finished, we set up our shit mad quick and just started playing some nice smooth housey beats. No one dancing, just people chillin, drinking coffee, tappin their feet, nodding their head, it was a lot of fun, and the fact that no one was expecting these two dudes to just randomly bop out all this dj gear and spin a set was fun.

Oh and I'm all about a nice smooth columbian roast. That was the first coffee I started to drink at my columbin friends house in peru. They always brought crazy good coffee from columbia and there was never any sugar or cream around... you just drank it black and that was that.
