using the djm-800 w/ turntables?
I know with cdj1000's and a djm800 mixer, you get 100% digital sound (which i presume is pretty good). what if you combind the djm800 w/ standard tt's? how is the sound quality? i also love the idea of using the mixer as a midi for ableton (which i still have yet to buy..
thanx
bisco
ps. the tt's i have are numarktt500's..

you won't notice any difference. Most people won't. It'll sound good.
Apparently the phono preamps in the 800 aren't very good, and you'll have to CRANK up the gain on them, unfortunately. You'll also have to run the gain on your CDJs at a low level to match.
I've never experienced this firsthand, as I've never used an 800 hooked up to turntables (they're always hooked up to CDJs), but plenty of people have had this problem. There are some threads about it at www.pioneerprodjforums.com
I have 2 technics hooked up to my djm 800. Along with 1 cdj 800. I've had no problems so far, in fact, after getting my digital coax cable in, I had to adjust the gain on the cdj even more than the gain from technics. Regardless, they both sound amazing hooked up to the djm 800.
trogdor knows best but theoretically with a lossless digital conversion you wont have any quality degrade...the signal should be identical to the output of the tt's except they route through the digital domain now with the 800.
Really stupid noob question,
Do all of the effects still work w/ a non digital imput?
Trogdor,
Whats so bad about cranking the gain? Isnt that what its there for? Loss of sound quality?
Just trying to learn.

I've had a DJM-800 for a week and I can noticably tell the difference in sound between my xone. The xone just sounds better.
Also, the headphone jack's sound is alot clearer on the xone, the pioneer mixer as a whole seems to be pretty bass heavy.
