Visiting Miami - help!
Hi everyone! A friend and I are visiting Miami from October 5 - 15th..and I'm looking for suggestions. I keep hearing all these horror stories about how difficult it is to get into clubs there. Is this true? We love house and trance, and just wish to go out, dance, have a good time, and not have to deal with pretentiousness or attitude! Are there any places we should avoid? Are there any places you guys can recommend?
Basically, I'm looking for some general info on the club scene there....door policies at different clubs, covers, dress codes etc...any help or info you could give would be much appreciated! Thanks!!!
check the florida vistors guide... http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=305871

many many choices....
well, since you'll be here for 2 weeks, there will be plenty of options. There is a place for you, it just depends what type of venue, crowd, music, etc...that you like. There are the places that will require you to wait outside for awhile until the door guy decides to let you in---and then there are the places that will let everyone in. If you have women with you--always a plus. Now of course, SPACE nightclub is a virtual must at somepoint for someone who has never been here. It's downtown, along with TWILO, NOCTURNAL, PAWNSHOP...all worthwhile places. On October 7, SPACE has Steve Lawler in Mainroom...then on Terrace for afterhours. That should be good. Fridays for afterhours (usually around 3 am on or so) is good at Nocturnal---always have a good time. Space has a VERY liberal dress code. You can show up in just about anything but crappy tennis shoes and a hat...and get in. It's a real "clubbers" club. ON the beach, you have a ton of options---startingn with Mansion--huge club, usually a stricter dress code (but nothing too bad---nice jeans, shirt and shoes wll do nicely)---but glitzier (more girls though
October 14th i'm acutally going there for PAUL OAKENFOLD and SANDRA COLLINS. You can get pre-sale tickets on Wanttickets.com. That should be a pretty damn good time. Consider it. On Sundays, brunch and all day/night house grooves at NIKKI BEACH. You've got a plethera of bars/lounges and clubs on SOBE. You should check out on of the hotel bars to chill at with friends....make sure you dress well there though---it's pretty swank. I'll let others fill you in....but check out "COOLJUNKIE.COM" That will give you a list of clubs/bars/lounges...and an active forum that discusses upcoming events. People don't start talking usually until like the week before---but keep an eye on it. Hope you have a great time here. save your pennies...miami ain't cheap either!!
Hey! Thanks for all your suggestions. Those are great. Yes, we are 21+, and it's just us 2 girls. We're not really into places where people are just standing around "trying to be seen." We want to GROOVE!! So Space looks good for the 7th. I went to Crobar in New York and had a great time, and wanted to check it out in Miami too, but it looks like it's closed or something? What's going on there?

go to space or else!!!! and for the 7th dont go too early cause mr lawler will commence at 5 am on the terrace and im told hes to go past noon, he wants to do a proper outdoor afters set in the fashion that got him crowned king of the terrace @ space ibiza...lawler in the sun is dominant, that is all, and ffs if u are around dont miss mr nico f the following week, he always brings the drunks out in the morning!
Lol! Yes, we will definitely check out Space on the 7th, but what happens before Steve Lawler comes on at 5AM?? What's a reasonable time to go?? We don't want to be waiting in line for a hundred years, and if we're gonna make it through the whole night and morning, we're gonna need a nap, or a little "help."
Also, I was wondering if there are any nights we should avoid at different clubs? No offence, but I know from past experience, that going to see Victor Calderone at Twilo would be a bad idea for us...that's just not my idea of a good time, ya know what I mean...
Drink your vitamins man, in Miami it's a marathon not a sprint. My advice, go see Carl Cox @ Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale on October 7th, then go see Lawler afterwards on the Space patio.
u can go to space at any time and it will be jammin, just saying if u wanna see lawler he will be on the terrace in the morning, oscar will be laying it down as normal from 10pm till daylight in the mainroom, so go when u need

Scarletts plays good house music and is open till 8am on fri and sat in fort lauderdale
Oh wow! I'm starting to get really excited...leaving in 2 days!! Especially since it's pouring rain and freezing cold here in Toronto right now! I am definitely looking forward to that Miami sunshine!
What's the commute like between Ft.Lauderdale and Miami...cuz of course, we won't have a car. Is there buses? trains? subways? If so, how late do they run?
We were thinking about checking out Nocturnal on Friday night. What's it like there?
And again, thanks for all your help and suggestions! It is much appreciated.
nocturnal fridays are one the best nights, definitely check it out, hope you have "energy"

Wicked, the Nocturnal website looked pretty cool...looking forward to that! Well, I guess we'll be looking for a little "energy," when we get there....
shouldn't be a problem, right?
MellyMel, I'm a little confused...is Suzy Solar on Friday night or Saturday night? Space will be trance though, right? Before Steve Lawler? or something else?
