If you're texting to Canada then no. If you're texting to the US or elsewhere, yes

Posted by starsearcher on Sep-25-2006 12:59:

I'm with Rogers and every time I'm texting from the US it's "Roaming text messages" so yes...and if i'm texting to someone with a US phone number then it's a long distance text.

orgers i think charges 0.07 extra for international (excluding US) i believe.

At least thats what it was when i was texting Kris while she was in cyprus.

Posted by mnemonic. on Sep-25-2006 17:31:

i text my sister in croatia all the time...21 cents a msg, so yeah extra $0.07

edit: i hope this thread leads to a "I hate my F@CKING Wireless provider Alliance"

+1

I think phone companies only in Canada charging oversees or long distance for SMS. It is a rip off. SMS service is totally different then voice service, all countries agreed to participate with no cost to each other. It is normal they charge some many but charging long distance is idiotic. Forget SMS, Rogers think I am long distance when I call Toronto from St Kitts just over 100km. People in US can call cost to cost with no charge.
