eBay listings for DJ gear

having some money to spend, I've decided to invest in a new mixer after I got scammed into "selling" my DJM 600 and not getting paid for it.
I've looked into the listing prices for Pioneer CDJ 1000s, DJM 800s, and A&H Xone 92s on eBay. What I noticed was that there was alot of false listings for these products, most noticeable with ridiculously low prices on unbelieveably expensive packages. For example, I've seen DJM 800s go for 300 USD, a pair of CDJ1000MK2s for 400 USD, and Xone 92s for a literal steal at 700 USD. Problem was, that you couldn't bid on them or else the item listing would be cancelled. A majority of the time, you had to email the seller to discuss pricing and shipping outside of eBay, which means that you are no longer proteced from eBay's fraud protection policy. So I tried to use a Buy It Now option for a pair of CDJ1000s mk2 and a DJM 600 for 300.00 USD. The seller informs me that I could transfer money via either Western Union, and bank wires. I never paid for it because I didn't have any insurance or some kind of proof as to the existence of a product. I got no negative feedbacks. Never heard from him again.
Question is, do any of you guys have any experiences with these sellers? Any of you bought top end gear for rock bottom prices?

I have used ebay to buy a cdj-800 and a djm-500. If the price is too good to be true, it is a scam. If you look at the pictures for many of the listings, they are fakes. Also, try and buy from an actual music store - many sell dj equiptment that comes into their stores.

Yeah - it's the simple rule:

If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

Anyone wanting to deal outside ebay obviously has something to hide.

Feedback and common sense.

Yea I suffered from the same thing... after long emails and even MSN convos with the "seller" I suffered a scam. I learned the hard way. Even though they had no negative ebay comments out of 100s of comments. I even went thru the trouble of looking up the address & phone number given to me and it was real, but false.
always use paypal on ebay.... never any other method.

report his behaviour to e-bay

Plenty of people have reported these guys to Ebay, but it seems to keep going on.

I've been searching eBay for a while now, they're prices aren't much better than some online vendors.

I did find legit CDJ200's for $299/ea though.

My best eBay bargain - genuine Pioneer HDJ1000's in mint condition for 26 including post/packing I also got an EFX1000 at a very very good price

With mixers, CDJ's etc for next to nothing, like everyone says "if it sounds too good to be true then it will be". I got curious about one listing ages ago & mailed the seller a few questions. Guy was selling 2 x CDJ1000's, DJM600, HDJ1000 & flightcase for something like 1000 on "buy it now". Listing was on eBay UK & seller stated he was in UK. Turns out the goods were actually in Italy & had to be shipped from there. Imagine if someone had used the buy it now option thinking they could just drive & pick the items up only to find they were half way across Europe. Would cost a fortune to get them shipped here, can't imagine anyone ever getting their money back on that one...

eBay can be treacherous waters for the unwary, something needs to be done to tighten up the scammers, fake goods & all the postage/packing scams

most REAL products on e-bay (if they are new) will be sold around MAP price. If theyre at MAP, then its from an authorized dealer. You can always submit your best offer tho

Eh?

Did you send it before you got the money or something?
