I agree.

There were good and not so good parts to the set. I should have been home 1.5 hours ago when I first wanted to leave, but it was great to see everyone out though having a good time on a Wednesday night.

Anyhow, sleep is needed before work in a few hours, so I will have to do the rest of this later.

honestly, I didn't think it was anything special.

I'm posting this review from my review on tribe:

the good:
- people seemed to have stopped smoking in there
- upstairs was open - thank god!
- lots of TAs there! too many to count...you guys made my night
- greg's set was great, a nice and welcome shift from the whatever kind of house the roaches were playing - he even played the new Marc Houle track <3
- the crowd was less of the typical TIL tits and zits crowd and more regular music lovers - I overheard conversations from people and instead of it being the usual pickup garbage, people were actually talking about music! and techno!

the bad:
- the sound, the fucking sound is SO BAD! I spent most of the night upstairs and then when Carl came on, I went downstairs and lasted all of 20 minutes...I was not even on the dancefloor and my ears hurt today! I had to imagine how Carl's tracks would sound at stereo because at TIL they all come out too shitty to properly enjoy them! It's embarassing that CARL COX has to play on that system when he comes to our city! is that really the best we have to offer? I can imagine him laughing when he plays at stereo tonight, thinking about the sound at TIL last night.
- Carl playing "work this pussy" as his first track...put this track to bed people!
- having 3 opening acts on a wednesday!
- bank machine not working and having to beg a cabbie to drive me home for the five bucks I had left in my pocket.

I'll be curious to hear Musicsnob_not's review!

sux the sound there seems as bad as people describe... I'm definitely grateful we will be seeing him at Stereo tonight.. better than 1234 where he played last year.

can't wait to meet the man!

Posted by Skipper on Sep-28-2006 12:39:

It's really bad.
Just always way too loud and abrasive, and difficult to enjoy unless you're fucked off your tits.

I probably would have thought his set was really good if I had heard those tracks @ stereo.

Posted by TheNeonAlien on Sep-28-2006 12:48:

um it was a good night

took out a loan to support my drinking.

dont like that happy tribal/house/techno that carl is throwing out (im a creepy motherfucka)

oh and i forgot that i wasnt supposed to drink cause i was on meds for an infected toe. think the booze was multiplied.

jenn u got to see 1 of 3

man school is gonna suck balls

i felt the same way when migs was here on friday. a lot of people were complaining about his set, i personally think it was the lack of sound and the overbearing of volume that made it so so.

cant complain though, by now we all know what you get with TiL.

- great dj's (usually)
- pushy, snobby crowd (majority)
- worst dancefloor layout in the city (people cutting through to hit the washrooms)

if you can deal with #2, and #3 - then you will no doubt have a great time.

Posted by Skipper on Sep-28-2006 12:53:

yup yup, I know what I'm in for when I go to this is london. but I'm still going to comment on it anyways, in the off chance someone might be reading.

If there weren't a whole pile of people I knew going there's no chance I would have gone - I'm not particularly into what carl's playing now either Vince, and hearing it at this is london doesn't have much appeal for me at all. stereo, sure, I could get into it..but you have to really really love a DJ or their sound to stick it out for a whole night @ TIL.

I had a blast, party went off.
Carl laid it down!

yeah that just about says it all for me too... quality party (especially for a wed!)

a few tunes of Cox's that I recognized...
- Mas Que Nada
- Daft Punk "Da Funk"
- Timberlake "Sexyback"
- and Carlo Lio's track "Everybody", awesome!!

All of the warmups were great, I really enjoyed the Roaches (Nathan/ Carlo), fresh tunes and great chemistry between the two of you guys.

i find the quality to be higher on weeknight headliner parties.... weeds out the 'there to be cool' crew that you find on regular nights.

I remember the Carl coming on... I was hammered and still am but the prob is this....

I woke up this morning and can't find my phone, someone came here with me last night because there is a half-smoked joint in my living room... I can't find my phone.... and I feel like I am losing the will to live.

I knew there was a reason I wanted to give up drinking!
