Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar 2006 (AATW)

yep, its a re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release for this worn out classic with a few new probably pointless mixes. god forbid we go ten years without seeing another 3 releases of it. anyway:

1. Raul Rincon Remix
2. Tall Paul Remix
3. Soul Seekerz Remix
4. K-Klass Remix
5. Kenny Hayes Remix
6. Michael Woods Remix
7. Three N One Remix

only heard the tall paul mix and it's so-so nothing special. obviously woods & three n one mixes are older and not new.

watch out for cafe del mar 2010 with mixes from tiesto, sander van doorn and above & beyond. :/

Unnecessary release, but i'd be lying if I said i didn't enjoy some of them. As you said the Tall Paul mix was pretty average, but the rest weren't bad. None of them stand out much though.

i'm mostly suprised that this rerelease includes house remixes.

Posted by GrimReaper on Sep-28-2006 19:16:

Kenny Hayes Mix is older too, heard it a few years ago but as most of his works it's just more of the generic cheddar.

The house mixes sound sort of interesting at least on the tracklist, we'll see how they are.

that is so sucky. half of those remixes are old. at least leave them out from every damn re-release.

I've never heard "Cafe Del Mar" more thoroughly ruined. From the sound of the sample, I don't think I ever even want to hear the whole thing.

But thank you very much for the sample!

Yep i agree.. i wasn't sure whether i should laugh or cry when i heard the sample. I kinda like the mix but then again i hate it so so much.

I think I figured out the "kinda like it" part though. I had that moment of doubt too, but then I realized that the only reason I like it is because I spin house now, and I like "Cafe Del Mar" so much, that I just really want it to be good so I could play a new version of the tune again.

But alas, it's one of the biggest jokes I've ever heard in my life. I'd be ashamed to have my name on it.

i think i might like it...

it's really too hard to judge from such a short sample, but i dig Raul Rincon's style.

No way! You only like the piano part - Fight the urge Myra! He ruined this classic!

well, here's what i like...

1. the piano (of course)
2. the sorta drum-roll percussion sounds cool
3. bassline is nice and funky

of course Cafe Del Mar is a classic, i won't argue against that... but you know i'm a sucker for the funky house and i do enjoy most of what i've heard from Raul Rincon. i can't say "yes it's a good track" or "omg i love it" based on the short sample, but from what i've heard.. i think it has potential to be good!

Fair enough

My complaint isn't the housifying of Cafe del Mar. It's that the Raul Rincon remix sounds so amateurish.

Posted by Salegon on Sep-28-2006 23:26:

mmm...NO.

I can't wait to hear that Three 'N One Mix.

Yeah, I hear it's going to be great!

Posted by iammesol on Sep-29-2006 03:05:

As much as I LOVE Raul Rincon... I really need a full sample to decide whether I like that or not...

well its a bit sad most of those arent new...although this will be good for anyone who doesnt have the vinyl yet, im still trying to get onto the kid paul mix, best one imo.

Hum, I don't know. How many more remixes of this do we really need? It's getting quite ridiculous already.

I was expecting a harsher comment than that from you.
